This is probably what they mean by "limited edition". Of course, there will still be a limited number produced over those two years, but I suspect we are talking about thousands per year, nothing like the ~800 units of the GTS available world wide.

I notice the press release does not include the deck lid among the panels that are made from CFRP. I wonder - does this mean that the M4 CS actually has the 4 Series deck lid and not the one used on the standard M4 (which is CFRP)? Or is it simply an erroneous omission from the press release? Edit: Technically, I guess the M4 deck lid is C-SMC, so I suppose that's why it was not named in the list with the others which are true CFRP.
Look at the pictures, it clearly has the standard M4 trunk lid. It has the curved upward trailing edge (as opposed to the flat/straight one from the regular 4-series) and it has the "double-bubble" continuation from the roof just as the regular M4.

Now on R-Compound Tires, and likely a ton more expensive, the M4 is only 6 seconds slower than the Alfa Quadrifoglio around the Nurburgring. That's progress???

CCB don't help lap times much... Further, I believe the AMS Supertest 7:50 lap was done with a CCB equipped M4.

True enough. I hadn't studied the pics closely yet. I think they omit it for the reason I stated in my edited post - it is carbon-based but not technically CFRP.

Yes it is - the M3 ZCP is faster than the QV on the vast majority of tracks with far less aggressive tires than the QV (the Nordschleiffe being one of the few exceptions). The M4 CS (now that it has standard tires comparable to the QV and other enhancements above the ZCP) will have even more of a gap in overall lap times vs the QV...

As much as I'd like to have this in my garage, I can't see my self paying $100k+ for an M4... or any BMW for that matter.

I should add that, with the M4 CS ending production a year before the F82 M4 does, that theoretically leaves the door open for an even hotter M4 CSL or similar offering at the end of the model's life. Not sure how likely that is, but they must have some reason for not just carrying the CS all the way to the end.

No.

And at this point it looks pretty unlikely that we'll see a successor to the E90 M3 CRT as well.

You should change your profile location from Chicago, IL to Fantasyland!

Further, the only 'ring lap times for the Giulia-Q are factory laps, so there is no way of knowing how close to stock those cars were. We will have a true comparison when AMS/SA Supertest the Giulia-Q.

Hi there.

Can't help but notice the hostility you are carrying around with you. Maybe you could tone it down and reduce the troll-factor to whisper while you are at it? After all, you seem quite pleased with your latest ride, so there's no reason to hang around here and try to convince us you made the right choice.

Thanks

Wow - someone feels a little threatened by the CS.... why not just focus on your brand new QV - it is a great car and every bit as competitive with the M3 ZCP. Just because of all the hype with the CS, that doesn't take anything away from the QV...

As far as the value of the CS - let's wait and see the official pricing. It seems that with DCT and EDC as standard - along with many other options that most of us would add on anyway - the "effective" cost difference vs. the base or ZCP models loaded with the most common options will not be as great as a "base CS" to "base civic" M4 comparison would otherwise suggest

Did not realize that some M drivers were so fragile. Perhaps they can wear these in their safe place...

As many others have said, no manual is a deal breaker for me. I have a DCT and MCT, both are going to be sold/trader for manuals within the next couple of years.

I was hoping the M4 CS would replace my C63 this year, but after seeing what the M4 CS is I'm not sure if I would buy it even with a manual. I like it, but the price is going to be steep for not much like everyone is saying. I've been looking at Porsche as an alternative to BMW, and the estimated price it is hard not to!

So I'm now looking at a M4 ZCP or Porsche Cayman or 911. The debate... and #FirstWorldProblems
