Very nice! I've been tracking a (black) SS 1LE the last couple of years. That looks like a 17/18 in very good condition? I haven't seen many black 1LEs in the Columbus area!

What made you switch? I'm very curious, as I'm considering switching to the M3 for track use. I just need to take the M3 to the track a few times before deciding for sure.

I might do the April 10th one with HOD. I see the 11th registration with HOD reserved for a car club! Was considering Mar 27th one but forecast temperature (~50/~35) seems a bit low to heat up the tires.

Nice! We should meet up i am part of Avants who is doing the April 11th event but they will open it to general public shortly. You should become a member! Very worth it. Also i will either get rear tires before track day on April 11th or wait till the one in May and just get a brand new set of PS4s. My rears are at 3/32 and fronts are at 4-5/32nds

If I end up doing the 4/11 event I will come say hi. As others say your tires are good enough at least in dry or semi-wet without puddles; as the main weakpoint of that tires is the shoulder.

I've only seen one running around central Ohio, coincidentally it was a few weeks ago around London, when I was deep in my search to find one.

It's a 2018 2SS 1LE, which outside of the sunroof, is exactly what I wanted. Blind-spot and cooled seats are nice to have. I've always liked the latest ATSV and Camaro and I think they're a great value for HPDE use. ZLE was outta the budget or else I would have gotten one of those. I should have a better understand of how it compares to the M3 within a few months of track duty.

Feel free to hit me up if you do any track events in the M or 1LE.

Yeah it should be interesting to see how it compares after tracking the M3 for three years. Right now I'm trying to decide which tire and brake setup to run, but I'm leaning towards RE71Rs (295 square) and ST43 pads. Ferodo's are just so expensive for this chassis that I think I need to give another brand a shot (ex. powerstop trackday pads are like 1/4 the cost of the Ferodo's). Front rotors are around $350-400 per side, but I think they last quite a while.

Nice looking machine. I'm guessing the running costs will be a bit lower than the M3, especially if you don't need to swap out the calipers/rotors. 295 square what the car maxes out at, or just a happy compromise?

Yeah you're probably right, nice thing about the M3 was I only paid out of pocket for one set of rotors and the rest were covered under the maintenance plan. Chevy big brake calipers are much cheaper than BMW's tho.

Initial research shows 295's are feasible on the OEM wheels and can be rotated. The ZLE wheels fit and I believe those are staggered with 325 out back. I normally wouldn't go with a square setup but I think 305 to 295 RE71 isnt too bad.

I thought those cars can do 305 front and 325 rear?

Congrats on the new car.

RE71s choices are the problem, widest is a 305/30/19.
Otherwise yes, the ZL1 comes 305F/325R.

Isn't goodyear f1 3r the new 100tw hotness (that comes in the right sizes for Camaro?

RE71R solid 200tw tire for sure

Or can you roll the fender and put in 345/30/19 Toyo RR

Congrats on the new car.
Thanks!

The stock SS1LE has 285/305 and I believe the ZL1 is 305/325.

I want to try out the square setup with at least one set of tires before investing more into the car. However, I believe they are now producing the 3R in OE SS1LE sizes which might make the most sense as I hear it's a great tire.

Now I just need to find a stock NPP exhaust to replace the Corsa system that is on it so I don't blow sound at NCM!

Are events still going on in your region?

NASA norcal 3/14 weekend and SCCA CalClub 3/21 weekend have been cancelled.

SCCA events canceled here in SoCal. Track Night In America is still in limbo since it's still awhile away. Maybe we can all just agree to keep our driving gloves and helmets on to reduce infection!

Business as usual

Speed ventures event at Chuckwalla was normal, only change was drivers meeting was outdoors. With so many things canceled, hope they don’t cancel track days.

I haven't booked anything other than the race school at VIR in April (which is still on as of this weekend).

Most things seem to be grinding to a halt this week tho...

I was told by a drift school organizer at t hill that track is staying open if it’s 250 people or less at the event

Not sure if that’s changed but maybe we are just getting some insights into which groups pack the track to keep costs low

Race school? Are you going to strip down and full cage your camaro for w2w? Awesome!
