Need a new daily driver (M5, E63, etc....). What to get?

I currently have an M4 Comp and a Ram 1500 as my daily drivers. M4 for summer and Ram for winter.

I want to consolidate and the dealer offered me a decent trade in value on the M4.

Need help deciding what to go with, my options are m5, e63, panamera, or any other 4 door AWD car. I haven't test driven any of them. I will be said to give up the m4. I've had RWD cars in the winter and they are good but the m4 is lowered, I can't bring myself to drive it in the winter (yes I can change back the suspension but it feels wrong). Also the boss doesn't drive manual (in snow but dry is ok for some reason) and she won't drive RWD in the winter. So I can justify an M5 to her better!

I'm in the same boat. Never thought I'd go electric but now I'm thinking I may hold out a bit for a Taycan 4s.

Honestly I looked at Taycan and it looks really promising, but then the child in me says get something that makes popcorn sounding backfires.

You've taken the X3/4/5/6 M's off the table?

But yeah, M5 + snow tires

I like the E63 the most best engine note and interior but RS7 and M5 are great options too. Just please don't get one of the XM's.

M5 fits the bill it sounds like. good enough to handle the snow, be fun, and seat 4. Plus you don't have to worry about it.

The Panamera turbo GT looks killer though and the interior is a step above bmw. a couple year old 911 turbo can also be fitted with snow tires if you don't need back seats.

You could also consider ordering a new RS6.

Is Audi coming out with an RS6 sedan or just the Avant? Wagon looks like a hearse.

If you are willing to wait a year or so, the new G8X M3/4 with AWD could be a nice option. But otherwise, all the offerings in the upper segment are excellent choices: E63, RS6, M5, Panamera. You can't go wrong with any of them.

+1 on 911 turbo as a winter car. My car used to be a friend’s airport and snowboarding car before I picked it up.

If OP is considering Taycan 4S, it’s worth check on the price vs performance compared to Tesla products.

That Audi RS6 Avant is probably the most interesting. Handling looks very impressive.

E63 AMG (any generation) would make a great daily driver. I have a W211 E63 as a partial daily along with e92 M3, the AMG is definitely dual personality... docile around town but fast as soon as you extend your ankle, all while being reasonably comfortable!

I picked up RS5 Sportback a few weeks ago. So far very happy with the purchase. I was also looking into E AMG, but liked the Audi more.

If you need a bigger car check RS7 or wait for the new RS6.

Funny you say that, I always felt my old e92 m3 was dual personality. Also had a w211 but not amg and loved that thing.

E92 M3 has torque in the higher rev range, so not much fun in city/traffic driving. E63 AMG has torque everywhere!

For a daily commuter, it's hard to beat Tesla Model 3.
Performance trim will out-accelerate anything on your shopping list (and anything under $250K).

Infotainment fidelity and options, driver assist capabilities, and throttle responsiveness are all of significantly higher caliber than any of the above alternatives.
Interior materials, however, are a step down from luxury German trims.

Price will be ~1/2 of what you would pay for any one of the above alternatives.

If Model 3 is too small (M5 and E63 references), then Model S will do the trick. MS's Performance trim will out-accelerate anything under $1 Mil.

Have fun with the test drives!

lol maybe if you're too scared to modify your car that's true. But theres bolt on RS3's that'll beat a TMP3 in the 1/4 mile. An F90 M5 with just a JB4 tune runs a 10.2. Whats the Model S record ? 10.6 ??

Test drove M5 last week in deep snow, the 4WD is actually impressive and the torque/power delivery is much more extreme then the F8x. Didn't play with the shifting aggressiveness but its a very smooth transmission lacking the DCT drama which I think most of us like/liked. Interior of the car is amazing and comfortable. Ride is very very good over bad pothole ridden roads sucks of everything which also might be because of the snow tires (19" with 40 profile sidewalls), its good in terms of comfort but I know the m4 will outhandle the m5 without a doubt, for long drives the m5 would be better.

Likes: Interior, Power, suppleness (also hate it for everything but daily commute)

On to more test drives.
