Track prepping the M4
I'm in the process of getting my comp packaged M4 track ready. I've gone with Apex EC-7 rims, Nitto tires, Eibach spings (JRZ's are in the future), APR complate aero package, Dinan rear strut and ball joint stuff (not sure exactly what it is).
Here's my situation, I have a very good friend that has the Z28 and that thing is stupid fast (http://www.motorweek.org/reviews/roa...let_camaro_z28 ) and we have a $500 bet I can beat him at Fontana. It will be a track day that we will race. Your thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated. |

+1 on the pads....OP you may want to upgrade to a better brake fluid as well.

Car looks incredible!! Have you driven aero cars before though? Need to drive them differently through turns.

Doesnt matter what u slap on ur car. Unless both cars will be driven by same person, driver mod will make the biggest difference, esp tracks like auto club speedway. Ive seen guys w vetto z06 run 2:05, yet stock s2ks run under 2:00 w tires. But like others have said, change the brake pads n fluids.

Thanks for the feedback and I have tracked a car with an aero package and I've done more track days than I can count, mostly 1,000cc sportbikes, Noble M400, Birel/Rotax kart, and raced the WSMC series for several years in 501-650 class. Here's a short clip of myself trying to stay sharp on the wheel so I hopefully wont be "that guy".
In regards to the brake pads, lines and fluids and I've already scheduled them prior to my track day at Bimmerfest. Here's a cool clip of how fast we go at Fontana on a 1,000cc bike: Last edited by Caliboy951; 05-07-2017 at 09:32 AM.. |

You won't beat him on the stock suspension, especially after you possibly made things worse by going with aftermarket springs on OEM dampers. Track pads, Castrol SRF, a tune, and a real coilover setup and then you should be good.
What Nitto tires anyway? I would probably go with Michelin PS Cup 2 or maybe Bridgestone RE-71R depending on if you're gonna drive this daily? |

If you really want to put the power down out of the corners I'd consider a 305 out back on an 11" wheel
