bootmod3 second round beta
Let's get started with second round beta already, said no one ever
Pricing and details on the product are on our website that you can find here: http://www.protuningfreaks.com/collections/bootmod3 Second round beta will be limited in volume as we want every car to have the same level of attention provided. We'll try to keep it open to as many cars as we possibly can depending on modifications, octane used, ability to datalog and providing feedback. During this beta maps are provided FREE. In return the feedback we're looking for is simply using the app for its features such as live dash, datalogging, map switching and driving on the tune and any revisions provided. As with any software expect innovation/changes as we go along as well as potential bugs that need to be sorted from one car to another. It is software after all and BMW has blessed us with a seemingly infinite number of versions In fact, this part of it will most likely never change as we need to adopt and evolve constantly. Once an order has been placed send us your list of modifications and VIN number to sales@bootmod3.com. - DME unlock is required to use bootmod3. When/if shipping the DME to us please email us first to obtain an RMA number and indicate warranty repair on the package especially for international shipments. For mailed in DMEs its $100 to unlock for those that aren't already unlocked or don't have a full backup of their DME (4MB file + 64KB EEPROM file). - Android support only at this time, iOS in the works - You'll need a Google (GMail) account to be added into the beta program so you can download the app through the Google Play Store Last edited by proTUNING Freaks; 10-12-2016 at 09:14 AM.. |

For some reason I was under the impression that the OTS maps would be free of charge. Kind of like Cobb does with all their OTS maps. Pay once and get all their future OTS maps for free. Only charge for custom maps.
So for me it would be $900 + $300 (3 OTS maps). Then an additional $300 per custom map (must first buy the OTS map). So that's over $2k. This makes me less excited. I will have to wait and see how the 2nd round feedback is before leaving my JB4.

The device is entirely optional as well and you can use a laptop instead. Our OTS maps really won't need much customization to begin with unless your setup widely differs from an OTS map we have which is highly unlikely. In most cases by far you'd run a daily OTS map and a custom map for high octane or given you've got a JB4 you can load a flash to use as a backend flash and move your boost around with your JB4. |

If you already have your DME unlocked do you need to still send it in for the flash? f or can it be done through your laptop once you've purchased it?
I know you are providing beta maps but on the full release the flash won't include OTS maps? So what will the flash purchase include, just oem maps?

Maps are separate/optional just as the device is from the base bm3 platform software license. You can always get the device later if you feel like you're tired of using a laptop in the car. We've done this on request of many customers and shops that are looking to run their own maps and not looking to pay for maps they're not interested in running. This keeps the cost of entry lower and provides you with all the features provided by the platform outside of a tune that will vary from one car to another. Exciting news!
I presume the jb4 guys could just use the relevant pump gas OTS map (91 or 93) then when they want to blend they can up boost via the jb4. Assuming they aren't going custom. I'm sure BMS will eventually release a BEF for each platform to. |

You got it. One thing though in our world we like to call flashes FrontEndFlashes and piggybacks BackEndBoostControllers don't judge! At the end of the day we all just want to get the most out of the tuning on the car whatever gets the job done well.

All dynos read differently but you can take a look at our 93 octane numbers that we posted on here. Given you're in California it seems, your 91 octane is really poor quality and numbers will most likely be less than what we had on 93 and less than even typical 91 in other parts of the US. In your case we recommend going with E85 to maximize gains and have a reliable consistent tune you can beat on every day without worry.

Do you have somewhere in socal for unlock? Or do we have to ship it to you?
Also, your site seems to say that you don't need the obd device. Does that mean the tune is loaded at unlock? Or do you have a PC program for use with an OBD cable? Does it do all the same datalogging? Last edited by terahertz; 10-12-2016 at 02:04 PM.. |

You'll need an OBD ENET cable to use with the bm3 device or your laptop, same cable people use typically for coding. |
