Heading back to COTA for turbo weather in December
Anyone else looking at going to the Edge Addicts event December 15-16 at COTA? I did my first event there back in May and had a great time, but the car was really struggling with the heat and down on power. Thinking the turbo weather in December should give me a power advantage too to finally get past some of the quicker GT3RS's there.
I was rewatching some onboard video and forgot how far past the limit I pushed the car. Anyone else ever lose their HUD and Comfort/Sport/Sport+ steering features? Probably should've stopped well before it got to this point, but was having way too much fun! Here's one of the full sessions out there with a pack of 3 GT3RS's. If anyone else is looking to go from socal we could probably get a shipping discount to get our cars out there. |

I'll be there Nov. 30th with WRL (my 3rd time there). Such a first class track. Cannot wait!
Edge Addicts run a great event.

Wish I could make December but already have plans that weekend, ya'll enjoy!!
I am planning to be there in February with MVP Tracktime and Chin in April, let me know if you end up coming back for either of those. Also wanted to mention that charging your battery before the weekend could help on not losing the HUD, I had a similar issue on another car and that solved it, ymmv.

I just gotta say that's pure commitment to ship your car out to COTA. I just did the M track days at Thermal and the guy I was paired up with did M track days at COTA last year and said it was an amazing event.

Nice driving! 2:23 at COTA is no joke in an M4. Darn shame to see those GT3 RS's driven so slowly.

What do you have done to your car if you do not mind me asking? I just got an m4 zcp and was told about this event from my friend here in Dallas. First time out and was thinking I should do track pads and some better brake fluid.

If you're going to go, I would really recommend shipping it. The last trip I did by myself from socal and spent about $900 in fuel, plus overpriced shitty hotels in the middle of nowhere, I ate unhealthy on the road and was in the car for 22 hours each way. Needless to say, if I could ship fuel with the car, I totally would just pay the $3500 and call it a day. |

I would recommend swapping out your stock brake pads for a track pads as cota has some heavy braking zones. What tires are you running on your car? Michelin PSS are not great dry weather track tires. The outter shoulders are known to overheat and chunk. I would recommend using Bridgestone re-71r's. |

Try the Ferrodo DS1.11 with Castrol SRF. Best pad I've found for brake heavy tracks. I used them before my AP Racing kit with good luck and even better results with the kit. This might be a helpful photo for anyone considering going to COTA on stock pads/fluid. This is braking into turn 12 from 155mph-40mph from the long straight.

DSuno - good for full slicks. I used the DSuno with NT01's and I found they were a little too aggressive and did not give me a good feeling in the car. It felt like they would try and lock up the tires very quickly. They feel right at home with slicks though! |
