Less expensive battery charger?
Hey all, reviving this one but what if the car is going into storage for 2-3 months and the storage unit doesn’t have a power outlet? Are there any decent/lesser expensive battery chargers for our lithion ion battery if it goes dead?

You'll want to avoid a dead battery like the plague in this car. The Li-on batteries do not respond well to being fully discharged. Once it's too low there's no saving the battery with a charge. They're not cheap at all for this car either, so I'd advise you find a way to have someone start her up every once in a while if you can't get a tender or a solar option is out of the question. good luck.

Interesting, not great news! Does anyone have experience with, or can you speculate on, how long the car can sit at 30-40 degrees average without being plugged in before the battery gets to dangerously low levels for this car?
Does it makes sense to remove the battery completely and store in a climate controlled area? How long do you think that would last? Last edited by 6spdTanzM4; 11-20-2018 at 10:54 AM.. |

Get a decent battery charger. It will last a very long time. Battery Tender is a good brand. Another brand that begins with Sch is also good. You only need a battery tender and not a charger. But you can buy a charger that has a tender mode.

OP: The CTEK (56-926) LITHIUM US 12 Volt Fully Automatic Lithium Ion Phosphate Battery Charger is currently selling on Amazon for less than $85. I paid $106 in July 2016. Just buy it, way cheaper than having the battery die.
