I love Tanzanite and almost got mine in that color, but in terms of keeping it clean and looking good it's functionally a black car, so swirls, yellow pollen, all that. So far YMB has been super easy to keep looking good, stays looking clean longer. You made a wise choice.

I never liked YMB; nice to look at every once in a while, definitely a cool color; but I could never live with it for an extended period of time.

My next car will almost certainly be a Tanzanite M3 ZCP (with Sakhir interior of course!)

I feel the same way about Mineral Grey. It looks soulless to me.

Speaking of blue, I did consider ordering my true favorite, Laguna Seca Blue.
I figured $5k residualised is about $60/month, so no big deal, but I was afraid that I might be late to get a confirmed allocation.

I get that YAS is a marmite colour and you either love it or hate it, but Tanzanite is a bit boring, a dark blue or doom blue as I would say, SMB would be much better if you don't want a the lighter YMB.

But whatever you do just don't get a ginger one, sorry I mean Sakhir.

I just went through this and got YAS with silver 666M wheels - looks amazing!
The color makes the car so special, there is a reason it was a launch color for the M3.

If San Marino was not $5k then i would have got that.

The issue with Tanzanite is it looks black 90% of the time. So unless u live in Cali, where it never rains and always sunny to show off the paint most ppl will never know its blue.

Just added port installed accessories to my order:

Z21 CF Mirror Caps
Z22 CF Rear Lip Spoiler
Z16 CF Front Splitters and Lip

I think CF bits really make YMB pop.

It does look black sometimes. However 90% is an exaggeration.

Yas does a better job showing the lines and hides swirls and scratches by a mile compared to tanzanite. Its not a daily color because you will always get feedback from random people; they will sit in your blind spot; etc but if you go CF roof it really looks nice. Tanzanite has a wow factor in the sun especially when the purple pops but other than that it’s more of a nice rich color that blends with the rest.

I have a 2016 YMB M4 and just put in an order today for an F80 M3 in Tanzanite blue. YMB is great but it's a bit flashy, and does solicit more of a reaction from people (positive and negative) - totally glad I got it for my first M car, but now ready for something a bit more classy. I also think YMB looks better on the M4 than Tanzanite, whereas the Tanzanite looks better on the M3 If San Marino were available as a standard or individual color, I would have ordered that.

Just my 2 cents! 👍

Congrats!

I went the other way, AW first time around just to be safe, but now I guess I needed more exotic color. I think both blues are a win in their respective way.
