Wireless Implementation of BMW ConnectedDrive / BMW Apps for MY17

I saw somewhere that in addition to adding CarPlay support that the MY17 models will allow you to use BMW apps wirelessly over bluetooth. I'm mainly thinking not having to plug in my iPhone to get the Spotify app would be awesome.

I can't remember where I read this and I keep searching and can't come up with anything. Does anyone have any info on this? Also, I know getting CarPlay to work on the MY16 is very unlikely since it is probably a hardware change but I'm curious if the wireless BMW Apps could be retrofitted. That seems like it would only be a software change to me.

I tried it a 2017 X3. The third party apps will show on the screen throw the wireless. I think it is an feature for the idrive 5.0.
