Would you pass on a great deal because of No PDC and backup camera?

Hi guys and gals,

I have a great deal on the table for a new M3 6MT except it's missing the park distance control and camera. Would you opt out of the deal because of that or simply re-adjust to driving without them?

If it's such a great deal then get the car and install after market cameras. There are plenty out there that you can integrate with I drive

The key word in that question is "driving". They have no impact on the driving enjoyment of the car, so get it! :-)

Integrated with iDrive? I've searched and can't find any, are you sure they are fully integrated? My dealer proposed aftermarket not too keen though.

I am pretty sure I remember seeing someone in the F10 forum doing an after market retrofit for back up camera that integrates into I drive. If you search the forum you'll find it

I would consider whether the savings amount is worth it for you to give up pdc and the camera.

I've acted on great deals for cars that weren't 100% to my liking, and I ended up still longing for a car that had everything I wanted. Life lessons have taught me to get what I want the first time around.

This statement carries a lot of weight! I have an X5 that I ordered because I wanted a very specific list of options with that vehicle and could not find it on any dealer lot. My M3 was purchased from the lot because I got such a great deal. I may have checked different boxes had I ordered it myself but I dont miss the missing options at all. What really matters is what you want. Retrofitting cameras is an option but since it wont be factory it is something to be considered. My M3 does not have any cameras or sensors or anything but that's what I wanted in the first place. I wanted a car to DRIVE, not mess with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. But that's just me. I dont even have HUD and I dont care at all because of the driving experience and what I want out of my car.

Good luck with your decision but I wouldnt pass up a great deal over cameras. YMMV.....

If it's that good of a deal, take it. Those options are frivolous fluff.

Backup camera and sensors are part of executive package and also has HUD which I use everyday and totally worth the extra dollars

Regarding after marked backup camera they are not as good as factory one , have one in my Acura and not totally happy

Might be right, but then again I wouldn't purchase an "M" for anything other than the drive. To each his own

It all depends on your priorities and how good the deal is. Personally I would even take a pink car that was missing the passenger seat if it was discounted low enough. After market can solve anything.

My previous 335 didn't have PDC or camera...when I ordered the F80 I made sure to check those boxes. But I live in a relatively urban area with many tight parking spaces, etc.

If I lived in a more "parking friendly" area I wouldn't pass up a good deal just based on those options.

I was actually looking for an M3 without the rear view camera and the PDC due to the holes/sensors on the bumper. You can always retrofit a rear view camera without the PDC like i have planned..

+2

NEVER get a car with anything less than all the options you want. you will have buyer's remorse later. Get it fully loaded from the get go.

just my 2 cents

PS: would you really enjoy looking at the center console to see the PDC and camera buttons missing? looks really weird / ugly IMO

I would look at it from this angle....does your current car and other previous cars have these features? If so how much do you use/rely on them? If the answer is yes and often then my guess you would not be happy with a car without those options.

A great deal is fun to get but if you dump the car early because you regret the lack of the two options then you likely will lose everything you saved and then some.

I agree buyers remorse is a bitch. Get what you want the first go around so you don't have any regrets.

My M4 does not have the Executive package - i.e. no HUD, no cameras, no PDC. I ordered it that way and am completely happy. Does that mean I am a semi self-righteous purist? WOW - I didn't know that - I feel so ashamed
