"Prearranged racing" seems to be the biggest issue here.

I get the citations and hefty fines and maybe suspend their License for a year or so but confiscating their cars is an absolute over reach Imo. What country are
we living in Russia or China that the Government will seize your car and they didn't kill anyone or stole anything or committed a felony, this is complete BS!

Lets face it we all speed. Owning a car like an M4 it is pretty tough not to. However with that said orginized street racing creates another level of danger for both the drivers involved and innocent bystanders. I have no idea what the consequenses are in NC but to those that were caught I hope the judge applies the maximum penalty allowable.

I think the response doesn't warrant the crime but all I am going on is hearsay anyway.

Buuuuut must not be much going on down in SC and those good old boys jumped at the opportunity to wrangle in some of those yankees and their fandangled automobiles. lol

Given all the info I have right now with this situation, I would agree this guys need the maximum penalty possible thrown at them, There's stupid, and then there's insane, this floats more towards the latter, especially when you just left a track event the previous day. SMH.

Seriously.

I'm very cautious with leaving and going to meets, track days etc to avoid this type of situation

Those drivers better lawyer up big time. Aren't some of those charges felony or misdemeanor? It's so stupid to have a criminal record over this type of behavior. Could have funded many many private track days for the costs of these legal fees and fines

It happens because most people who live in the US do not know what the heck left lane is for.

Out of curiosity, I wonder did the troopers see this race unfold and take place with their own eyes? It would suck if, as hard as it is for everyone to believe, no street racing took place and it was all based on hearsay.

Who knows how it all really went down. If the guys were really street racing than they need to face the consequences, but if they were just slowing down for rolling pictures and the cops over reacting to the situation. That would be very unfortunate for those that were out cruising and taking pictures. Now that cop that was going the wrong way, that is just complete stupidity. With if a family was minding their own business coming down the highway at 70mph, all of a sudden they see a cop car traveling towards them at say 80mph. If they ended up colliding, that would be like an impact at 150mph. I don't think anyone would survive that, and all because you want to be the hero that stops the so called street racing that was allegedly going on. I guess we will see what becomes of this mess after all the dust settles down, things like this really makes us look like ass clowns driving our BMWs that are modded out!

As dumb as this is... this either about EGO or revenue... ends there.

There was a cop going the wrong way at 100 mph...

You know a cop is mad when he's chasing after you on the opposite side of the freeway going the wrong direction lol

and LOL at the angels in here that would never do highway pulls because they ONLY save that for a race track

Simply put the guys pulled over had some shitty luck and were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

It happens because most people who live in the US do not know what the heck left lane is for.
Driving would be so much more enjoyable if: People would only use the left lane for passing and not driving. When dealing with lane closures it would be nice if folks merged using the zipper method, (right before the closing lane ends), this could be helped along by good signage from the local DOT's. Imagine if people communicated consistently and properly by using their......gasp! Signals! Or even better use mirrors....and look around,. Today's systems that encourage we no longer have to look around, just look for a light warning us, miffs me just a bit, because it enables poor driving and creates dependence on technology to drive. If you want the car to drive for you, take public transit and stay off the road. Also if people stay off the road when impaired (drunk, doped up on illicit & prescription drugs, angry or tired) would be a joyous time for us.

My wife and I call traffic jambs that suddenly end, and were there for no apparent reason "The mitten in the road". People were rubber necking and checking out a mitten left in the road and the traffic then clears because someone must have found the mitten they lost to a match.

I too, drove in Munich and all over Germany. I find it odd that their licensing system is very strict and expensive with a lot of regulations. I really appreciated their system and road structures.

Then they let any ol' american come by and drive on their roads with no training or pep talk.

I just saw a video somewhere showing a cop blowing down the wrong side of the road to catch up with these guys. Now what they did was wrong, but putting others in danger driving into incoming traffic is the right approach for LEO?

Clearly to go the speed limit and prevent others from speeding dangerously, because you're literally Hitler if you go 5 over.

1st most here commenting do not know the faces that were caught in the situation nor do they know all the facts. Many are my friends on FB, IG etc. I am friends with many and side with few. I attended the event but did not meet up with them on the Sunday funday drive but have friends that did participate. I will put this here as I did on FB.

This has gone to hell in a hand bag real quick. Were they speeding...probably....we all do it. Were they racing...I highly doubt it, that usually happens at night. Did they inpead traffic...probably a little since they were shooting video and photos for magazines and Instagram. Anytime you see footage there is some king of impending going on and they were here attending one of the largest BMW "M" gatherings in the US. And as for all the stance car haters.... My big blackie M4 chases GT3's and Caymans 8.5 hrs thru the mountains from Charlotte to Va and back. 500 to the rear and all buisness......with a little stance look on the side. I am not saying what they were doing was right but come the fuck on.....this has turned into such a over inflated propaganda shit sling with zero facts from the pitchers. Whateves....

My point is if we let the media and law enforcement railroad us now they will take the rope and run with it....we all loose in the end. I am no angel so not trying to preach.... And I am pretty sure they pissed off the wrong person in the wrong area to get singled out......

Oh and spread. share or what have you the video of the fuck face doing 100+ into traffic trying to get ahead of them to road block. Does NC not have enough $$ to afford a fucking plane or helicopter like they do in Ca? Maybe they have not killed enough old people in high speed chases to justify it yet...hell they just put one in the ground not too long ago in downtown Charlotte

http://www.wcnc.com/news/local/caugh...way_/457418470

Come on guys...this really does not belong here. Lets leave it to the crappy social media
