AWE Switchpath V2 Delayed Excessively; Switched to Remus with AA; HP Loss?
So I originally ordered the Switchpath V2 in March and was supposed to be shipped on April 17, then switched to May 15, then latest as of yesterday it's now July.. AWE doesn't inform that there is going to be a delay until the day it's supposed to be shipped as well, which is pretty unprofessional. Like, pretty sure they know something is going to be delayed before the day they need to ship it..
Anyways, decided to drop that order and order the Remus exhaust with a non-resonated AA EL midpipe from X-PH and that should be coming soon. Excited to finally have some good sound. After looking at the videos, it appears AWE did me a favor by making me order this new set up, seems like it sounds great. I did read in this forum in the equal length discussion that the AA EL causes a slight horsepower loss. Is there any truth to this with the stock downpipes? That's the opposite of what I usually like..... Thanks! |

i have that setup (AA EL non-res + remus muffler) and while i have not done a dyno, i did not feel any loss in power. to be honest it feels like my car can pull a bit harder now (compared to my brothers f80).

does a slight horsepower loss on a car that can barely manage it matter? are you a street racer or track driver?

The improved sound is well worth whatever minor loss in power you get from the mid pipe. It’s easily the best mod I’ve done to my car yet.

The OEM mid section has a pair of catalytic converters and the AA EL Mid has open pipes. I doubt the couple EL Anaconda bends introduce more backpressure than the OEM cats do.

I have this setup but with catless downpipes and resonated AA EL. We dynoed my car on BM3 stage 1 and it made about 470 whp / 500 wtq (also have CSF intercooler, radiator, and Eventuri intake -- but I don't think those make any meaningful difference in the power numbers).

Yeah I wouldn’t worry about power - if you’re stock or around there you aren’t pushing boost levels needed where scavenging and flow restriction becomes an issue so no power loss. Said another way, the turbos are already regulating the needed “back pressure” at those levels and there will be plenty of cushion given the secondary cats are removed.
Even then people are running after market turbos with and EL setup and have fantastic power output/curves. On F8X stock turbos, exhaust mods past the downpipe (and without an accompanying catless tune) are not really that significant to power.
