I remember when ESS sold me an e-tronics box I was told the flash wouldn't have any advantages. But I guess that was just to get me to buy an e-tronics box before the flash was released.
I didn't get a chance to dyno the car with the JB4, unfortunately. The HP difference is probably not the reason why the ESS flash felt smoother since it was something I could feel at all levels of acceleration. It just felt better to drive (like factory) whereas with the JB4 there was always a feeling that something was off with the car's drivability/acceleration, but I could never put words to it. Maybe my JB4 firmware wasn't updated to the latest version or whatever, but the fact that I have to monitor the forums and check for updates or bug fixes so that it runs perfectly is something I just didn't want to deal with.

My JB4 dyno had less oscillations on the dyno than this ESS one..this graph looks very twitchy.

This graph indicates the computer isn't liking the changes and is fighting to correct parameters and with a early tune its likely that only basic tables ate accessed but many are not so in essence it's likely worse than a piggy which let's the ecu do it's thing minus boost being tweaked. This appears ecu is flipping between tables and it's not at all smooth. Never seen a piggy this jagged

Don't they physically have to open the ECU to bench flash it?

My car is not a dct (6mt) but I think that a comparison video would still be valuable
This would be interesting to see

I look forward to V2. : ) Keep up the good work.
Boost is not dropping off the car is still making additional power over 5K RPM. You do not have power dropping off until after 6500 RPM. What we typically see with piggybacks is the power curve getting flat just after 5500 RPM then dropping off so when there is a bump in power like you see with the flash tune dyno after 6000 RPM it makes the typical flat spot around 5500 look like a dip.

Below is a different customers dyno running the same tune on 93 octane and as you can see with better fuel the car can make additional power.

So are you saying even in stock form, the ECU doesn't like itself either? Because its pretty jagged on that dyno in stock form too. Take a look at the tuned plot -- its basically stock, but moved up with a bunch of HP under the curve.

I think if we stretch the dyno sheet horizontally, then it would look less jagged too .
