Will you buy an RS6 Avant?
It's officially coming to the US finally!

If I had to rank my all time list of "obtainable" dream cars, it goes like this:
1. R33 or R34 Skyline GT-R 2. RS6 wagon Wouldn't mind trading in both my M3 and R8 vert for the RS6. But unfortunately, I don't think it'll be anywhere near what I'm willing to spend. Different priorities now, can't spend the money I used to on cars. Rather put the money towards a college fund for my kids. Sure is purdy though. |

Looks like I have to donate my left nut...I always said I'd give my left nut for this car, and it's finally happening!!! I guess I won't be selling my '18 X5M anytime soon (I have it listed here for sale here) and wait for this!!

I would take this car over ANY BMW but the price for one of those to lease would be north of 2-2.5K easy. Financing also doesn't make sense considering how cars like that tank in just a few years.

Unfortunately, I think it will be pushing $100k easily. Fortunately, unless they are sold in very limited in numbers, they will depreciate so badly (in the US) that in 3y they will be worth 50k. I'm OK if the American consumer prefers the SUVs. Our gain!
Pair the RS6 with a more hardcore sports car (Lotus, GT3, etc.) and that would be my dream garage! |

I think base price will be over $110k. Then with options, you could see $140k.

In the end, e63 wagon got the boot and was replaced with Q7. Not much opportunity in North America to use that kind of a-Bahn missile, and pure sports car are more fun at the track or in canyons. YMMV and definitely pursue those fast wagon if it’s your dream car |

But that's a good problem to have; the alternative would be no RS6 at all in the US. And looks-wise I much prefer Audi's station wagons. |

The price is always going to be a tad of an issue when it comes to Audi RS cars I think. Not that they aren't good but... the way Audi prices the RS cars makes them a bit... iffy to get new.
A B9 RS5 is priced $400 MSRP below a Benz C63S Sedan AMG. In comparison to a V8 AMG or the more performance oriented M, the price of a RS5 is ridiculous. A RS3, you can price that car above a F80 M3. I'm almost afraid to even see the price of the RS6 Avant and I am fairly certain it would definitely be above the price of a F90 M5 Comp. Enough of us love this car but... what target are you aiming for if you are pricing it this high? Just bring the damn RS4 over already. |

Same here. As cool as it is to have the RS6 coming to the US, I don't think it's the right car to make the case for wagons returning to US. This seems like a risky performance wagon to bring here first. I would have personally tried to bring the S4, RS4, or S6 wagon first, at a much more palatable price point, and gauge interest from there.
Still great that the RS6 is coming, but this is exactly the type of car that I can see Audi checking the sales figures at the end of the life-cycle and say "Well, Americans still don't like wagons, no point in sending any of the cheaper ones over there." I hope I'm wrong, but based on the conversations I'm having with fellow car enthusiasts and other people, so far only 1 person besides me out of the 10+ people I talked to is even remotely interested in it. |

I am very much interested in the RS6 Avant as a replacement to my wife's X5M, but having dug a little deeper, this thing is going to cost crazy cash! AudiNA is setting this thing up to fail given the likely price, and America's aversion to wagons. It would have been much wiser to bring over the RS4 Avant at a relatively less expensive entry fee.

IMHO I would be happy with an S4 avant to compliment my F80 or whatever RWD car I have at the time. |

My heart says yes. My brain and bank account say no.
I'll wait a couple years after it's release and let that thing depreciate as typical Audi's do and we'll see where we land but the want for a Wagon is badddddd.

Everyone can say the RS5 or the M5 are far more practical but both of these cars sell in rather limited numbers already. Then you add in the wagon part of the RS6 Avant, which lets be honest, US buyers don't like wagons. I don't see this going well sales wise. This is another one of those, "buyers" clamoring for this Avant but the amount of people actually going to end up buying it will be extremely little. You can get the Benz E63 AMG Wagon and yet, how many do you see on the road? Very, VERY little. With how Audi prices cars, my educated guess is, this will easily hit 140k with options. WHich is what I have been saying, if Audi wants to do this correctly, they SHOULD do it with the RS4, judge the market first before they do the RS6 Avant. That is the more practical route, not this bring RS6 first, probably fail and not do this again. |
