It is no G35, I give you that. I think these cars are going to redefine the ///M brand. I love the F80!!!!

Can some enlightened soul please explain to me why this has regen brakes when it's on a diet?
The extra electrical power generated out weighs (no pun intended) the extra weight the regen equipment ads? |

That being said, I'm leaning more towards the manual since it's 44lbs lighter and $3k less (or is it $2.5k for DCT?)

It's on my F30. It's likely not the hardware you think it is.

Today has been a great day seeing the "official" pics of the M3 and M4. Both cars, at least in my opinion, are gorgeous, but I am loving the M3 even more, especially with the super flared rear fenders!
I am claiming with conviction that I will be getting a M3 in ~ 2016. Great job M Division! |

Regenerative braking
Brake Energy Regeneration here is not like on a hybrid that generates power on braking that is stored in the batteries, and leads to artificial brake feel. Not sure if there has been an explanation - my best guess is alternator generates max. power on braking and cuts back under acceleration.

Beautiful car(s). Their interiors are top notch. That stitched leather dash..
Great job M. I certainly like the color pallet. This is coming from a guy that owns two black (sapphire and Jerez) M cars. Can't wait to set my eyes on a YMB F80 m3. |

Wow! The torque should really gets things moving.
I can't wait to see the tuning world cone alive. Looking over the engine specification... Specifically stroke and bore. (This may have been answered in a previous) WHAT similarities share does this motor share with the s52/m54. All 3 use the same amount of stroke. Obviously, the top end is different. I guess that I'm mainly speaking of the bottom end. Do you think the crank are the same? I doubt it, but why not modify an old (reliable) design? After seeing the power figures, I originally thought it would be a real torquey motor. I guess variable valve timing takes care of that. Also, I love the "mono" turbochargers. It makes them sound so special.

I really think I am sold on Yas Marina Blue. I was previously pro-Sakhir Orange, but the more that I look at these photos, the less appealing SO is to me. YMB really is a beautiful color.

I was and still am sold (even more so now) on YMB. However, it could just take one amazing pic of Sakhir and it's back to the drawing board.

Fun and engagement are my priorities, not the convenience that the DCT SEEMS to provide. Extra expense (very significant in my opinion) plus weight and complexity are counter to my priorities, and what I think are reasonable priorities as well. This is an age old debate, but I will always advocate for manuals so that I can buy all of you guy's used cars (in manual) in the future! If you don't buy them new, Ill never be able to find them used (I can't afford a 40k car, much less this 80k m3).

335i has a base of about $43-44k, not sure where you are getting a $30k difference for the M3. Go deck out an 335 with MPerformance gear, the LSD, PPK, exhaust, steering wheel, brakes, wheels, Aero bits and you will have $15-20k installed of the $20k gap and still be 300+lbs heavier than the M3. As for the 2.0L AMG engine, well it has completely different characteristics than the S55 and the 3.0L will have a lot more headroom than a 2.0L running 26psi.
