I'm not really a fan of the power bulge on the render. It just looks...out of place. Maybe, too much... Or it could be the lines of the hood don't give room for the buldge. Or maybe the (already awkward) lines on the render make the power buldge look off center. To my eye it seems like the bulge is looking left while the rest of the car is looking right. This is evident in the vent to the left of the bulge that follows the hoods lines but the bulge and right vent do not.
If there will be a bulge I hope it doesn't disturbe the lines of the hood that look like they "V" toward the kidneys of the grill. I guess my render on post #44 wasn't good enough for the front page. Lol

I know it's a render but it could be very similar to what we've already seen of the F30 but I don't like how it's so square/boxy. It still has BMW lines but the box form is looking close to what Mercs are...

Stupid M5-esq copy cat Ford Taurus side vent is out of place on a BMW and needs to go. So do those small Mitsubishi Evo light cluster to grille bridges. Everything else is ok, even if its just a general resemblance of what the real car will look like.

Looks Outstanding !!! The power dome is Perfect! - a little more subtle than on the current e9x, and fits the lines of the rendering quite well. Agree with a previous post - the dome just says "M3." Just hope BMW also offers the carbon roof on the sedan, as shown on the Melborne render. Also, although this is probably wishful thinking as apparent from all the speculation on the new powerplant, but a bi-turbo V8 with +450hp and +475ft-lb would be ridiculously insane (and good)!

May no longer need the power dome, is not a V6 and twin turbo planned? I red something to that effect. Looking carefully at the pictures there seams to be a longer blended in version of a power dome ... for the turbo perhaps a twin turbo one to each side of a nice V6 engine ... time will tell.
BTW as you may know the Z4 35i had a V6 with twin turbos, perhaps the M Division might be working on a nice M3 motor ... I know the Z4 35i has plenty of power under the hood (I drove one last year and start of this year for 8 months in total). Time will tell ... so let us wait

The front end looks a bit mercedes-ish to me. however; i love it and I really hope the final version comes out looking like that, it just looks so angry and awesome. although i do hope they make it a bit more bmw-ish not mercedes-ish.
i'll take one in red with a carbon roof btw also they should keep the side vent more like the current gen m3 and not like the new m5. the current m3 style side vent flows better and looks better (but thats just my opinion lol) |

My e46 as everyone knows had 333 HP and I found it plenty of zip for a road car here in North America where we do not have the Autobahn

It is quite clear that the desire for the dome is hot. I for one would definitely want a dome. As someone has mentioned it's an obvious distinction that this is an M3. I have modded my current car, (subtly, I have to say), and I guess it would be the same for the dome. Each to their own. If M deprives us of a dome then hopefully the aftermarket boffs will come to the rescue!!! |

I surprised so many people like it.. The lights are ugly and it looks almost like the new M5.. What happen to the days where car Co.s would make each individual car special. Now it looks like every car company is making ever car look similar and just changes the size of it.

M3 side vents
Remember this is a render, THIS cannot be stated enough. People believe this is exactly how the F80 will look. Subtle, but extreme changes can still be made. We still haven't seen the rear, other than with camo on (and it looks to be very similar to the F10 M5). The side views are just the artists' interpretation, and so is the side vent. Again, all based on the F10. If history repeats itself, all M cars have had different side vents, and so will this one. I doubt it'll be exactly like the F10's unless someone has mule shots that can prove me other wise. SCOTT26 in his post in this thread pretty much ruled out the power bulge... sorry M3 "purists".

I was getting out of my wifes van the other day and the guy who lives down the street has an X6 and a M3 coupe..I have been slowly working on my wife about a new Bimmer..X5 or M3..she's not a big car person but she likes nice things..and a bimmer is nice to her...well my neighbor drove by realllll slow and that V8 made my wife turn around and she goes..WOW that thing sounds nice...I was like TYG.....My point is I know BMW wouldn't risk the M3 and the last generation was a inline 6..but my goodness that V8 just sounds demonic in a good way....

So no power dome, no inline 6, no v8, no two bracket mirrors,
This no-dogma v6 better be a demonic beast or what else is left to define //M but the quad exhaust?... the sedan should at least come w CF roof to say the least... Now if the F80/82 comes w a reduced cD Then ok but cooling properties of the v better allow for that much more Compression and if so this engine will be the reason to get this car... I have a feeling it will be two cylinders chopped off the current engine w the valvetronic taking over duty for the individual drive by wire throttles... Just pray this car is lighter and doesn't have the Taurus/side portal vents |

Am I the only one that thinks this rendering looks too much like the new m5?
Don't get me wrong, I love the F10 body style but I'd like to see some diversity. I wish that BMW would develop a fuel efficient TT v8 I don't think the inline 6 has enough oomph even with the rumored tri turbos...? |
