I want to upgrade from my 135i to an M car. Mainly for an E92 M3, but I've been holding off due to the upcoming M4. After seeing this comparison, I still like the E92 exterior better, especially with the competition package. Yes, the M4 will have a way better engine, it will be more fuel efficient, it has the nicer interior, and will be flat out mechanically superior... But man, that V8!!! The E92 wouldn't be nearly as expensive to upgrade to and is still a great machine, but I really don't want to upgrade to a used car either... I'm torn now :/ I guess I wish I could have the looks and sound of the E92 with the performance of the M4.

I Love the E92 but the F82 wins every category! Sexy design, Wider wheelbase, wider body, longer length, lower body, less weight, faster - more power, more torque, superb interior, meaner front look, better mileage...The only negative part with the F82 is the cost, BUT you get what you pay for!

I've owned twin turbos in the past they are a beast if you know how to handle them on the track and when you hear the future likes and reports of the M4 performance, you'll think twice before you'll ever say that you'll always stick to the old M3. When professional BMW race car drivers, engineers, and ex-M3 owners who put their soul and praises into the new M4, that says a lot about the F82. You will probably get the F82 next yr if not this yr... :-)

All I know is I welcome the 32MPG, don't care about a V8. It will be nice to drive a M Car that doesn't get 8-10 MPG. Saying you want E90 performance is a stupid statement being you don't even know what the F80 can do. Plus E90 does lack Torque

Wait, wait, wait! Careful....they'll tell you that you can't afford this car if you care about gas mileage. After all, it would seem that in order to 'qualify' to drive one of these cars, you need to make triple what the car is worth and be liberal with your dollars. If either of the aforementioned don't apply, this isn't the car for you.

The interior of the F82 looks updated except the ugly nav screen. The exterior goes to E92 it is cleaner and less busy and yet still very aggressive. When I saw the M4 at the car show I was shocked how high it sits, if I end up getting M4 I will have to lower it which is something I have never done before.

Both are great. F82 wins for me as it looks lower, sleeker, more sporty, more aggressive, and more "expensive" looking. I'd prefer if the wheels were all black as they are on the E92 though.

brake size estimate
Looks like the ceramics are 390mm. 360*25.5/23.5. They should be smaller than the M5 (405mm).
Have the specs been published? I haven't seen them so far. |

both look great except the fact that the f80/82's rear bumper side skirting area+reflectors or whatever it is just plain ugly.

My one gripe with the interior. . . I loved the "secret" non-obtrusive cupholders that aren't RIGHT in your face in the e90. . . I had them in my 335, and they even had a "mini secondary cupholder" built in that PERFECTLY fits a redbull can. . . friggin amazing. After 2 Jeeps it was so great to get back in to a drivers car that didn't have stupid cupholders built into the console.
I'm not particularly happy BMW went super cupholder mainstream. . . I hate them in my temporary tide me over 650 and I'll hate them again in my m3 I'm sure.
