BMW Independent Specialist (Cheshire)

Hi.

Only just joined the forum as I have put a deposit down on a 2017 M4 Competition and hope to pick it up in the next week or so.

I asked if the BMW specialist near to where the car is being collected from could do the crank hub fix for me using something like this: https://www.evolveautomotive.com/rk-...k-hub-bmw-s55/

Unfortunately, this garage won't do it because it is a not a genuine BMW part so I was wondering if anyone on here would be able to recommend a specialist near where I live instead (North West).

The car will be having the BM3 Stage 2 tune (decat downpipes but retain the secondary cats) and I wanted peace of mind with the crank hub.

TIA.

I used Darren Woods BMW independent in Stockport when I was living in Manchester - would highly recommend. Very reasonable pricing and engineers who seriously know their stuff. The wait to be booked in can be up to 2 months as they are that popular

Thanks, AnDub.

I've been reading this: https://bmwtuning.co/the-4-most-comm...gine-problems/

It tells me that the crank hub issue is overblown and nothing to be too concerned about. Is that the general consensus from owners?

No worries, found it myself recently and thought it would be really useful to share!

DRW Performance near Liverpool is recommended for carrying out the crank hub fix.

It's certainly been my train of thought.
Mine has been stage 2 since being less than a year old with little mileage on it.
Now approaching 5 years old & more than 30k miles.
No CH work done at all.
Failure has proved to be very random & very rare, given the number of affected cars in relation to production numbers.

I'm probably going to get a capture plate done as piece of mind - it's also far easier to do!

I'd add that my car was AUC and had this issue about two months after I purchased it - it was stock at that point….
