I'll also put in my opinion since I have experience with both. Tesla's are incredible daily's and road trip cars but that's it. If you want a new daily, go Tesla, but if you're looking to replace your sports car, you'll feel like you're missing something. It's amazing just sitting back and having it drive me to work or taking a road trip and having it do all the work. Then once it's time to charge (free charging ftw) I watch the on board Netflix/YouTube until it's done. On rainy days with the most recent update I can stand outside the grocery store and it will back out, drive around the parking lot, and come pick me up. I was like everyone else at first talking crap on how it makes you a lazy driver and how all the tech is gimmicky and that you don't need it but trust me once you get behind the wheel and get to experience all these cars have to offer, you'll love it. But like I said, Tesla's will never be able to replace the drama and excitement of driving a sports car. Any car can have this technology and the zippyness of an EV is fun but not anything life changing. It's way more exciting doing a spirited drive in a sports car than in a Tesla. EV's will never be able to replace the pure drama and excitement of driving a gas powered car. Moral of the story, if you're looking to replace whatever sports car you have with a Tesla, it's not worth it but if you're looking for a new daily, it's a great contender

I think I've mentioned this before, but I'm in a private social media group with a number of my professional colleagues, and many of them have Model 3, X, and S cars sharing garages with their exotics and they all love their EVs to pieces.
One of the guys in the group who regularly tracks his Senna, 720S, Ford GT, etc. just sold his Model S to get a M3P while he waits for his Taycan Turbo because he loved it so much. When you ask what his favorite car to drive every day is, he says it's his Tesla far and away, and many of the owners out there agree. I test drove the S back in 2014 and liked it a lot, but it just wasn't for me at the time. Thinking about it or a 3 for my wife's next lease after the Macan though. Kind of tough to beat for everyday commuting.

On the self driving note, it isn't really in development mode anymore. The car already has the capability of being fully autonomous but government regulation prevents that from being released. Tesla just uses the data from everybody using their cars to further improve autonomous mode |

Recent Tesla convert here....traded in my M4 for a Model X and I have no regrets (...yet). The tech and straight line acceleration is awesome. (Feels great demolishing every M car in red light races .) But I honestly do miss having an ICE car and find myself perusing Autotrader a couple times a week looking for a nice weekender that I can slap a loud exhaust on and do some track days/back road sessions without having to worry where the nearest charging station is.

I'd convert from the M4CS to a Tesla P100 if the styling was better. For 95% of my driving, the Tesla would be significantly faster than the M4CS.
The economy of the Tesla would be awesome too. I may get one as a DD at some point. |

Total gimmick. What's bonkers to me is that any able bodied person would actually want this. Talk about lazy. What's next? An autonomous ass-wiping toilet bowl? Maybe Tesla could integrate one into next year's model. Think about the possibilities. You wouldn't even need to pull over.

I think Pobst helped develop the "track mode" by supplying feedback -- not the actual suspension etc. The actual part numbers haven't changed since track mode was introduced. You can think of track mode as MDM mode on the F8X platform.

They did two roll races, The first one has the 911 in Auto mode starting at 50mph, the second one has the 911 in 2nd gear at 30mph. I am not sure why they did the second test at 30mph though. It almost seems like it was rigged for the Tesla to win. I wonder what the result would have been with the 911 in 2nd from 50mph...

I really think you are missing my point and maybe my wording is creating confusion. EDIT: (tried to correct my wording here a bit) ... My point, which these videos illustrate just fine, is that the Model 3P is extremely quick to 100+mph, regardless of whether it starts at 0mph, 30mph, 50mph. It's not just 0-60 fast. It's that simple. No need to keep overthinking it.

There are several videos, I think even from Carwow, showing that the Tesla does hit a brick wall at a certain speed and get passed by the ICE cars. Might have been a 1 mile race.

Even in the above videos, it gets passed by the other cars. I get that these other cars are faster at higher speeds. I'm not arguing that. But from what I can see, the 3P doesn't fall on it's face until well after 100mph.
