Help! Windshield Fluid Low even though I just filled it up

Hello guys. Ive recently purchased a 2019 m4. There's a error saying "Windshield Fluid level low" even though I just filled up the entire tank with oem bmw concentrate and water. Not sure if the previous owner has used rain x or not but what are some fix around that? I still have my CPO warranty, will the dealership be able to cover the cost?

Sounds like the sensor failed and needs to be replaced. I’ve heard the incorrect fluid can cause it to fail. Only the dealer can tell you if it will be covered under warranty.

You sometimes hear of rodents chewing through wires. I suppose it’s possible this happened too.

Same issue with mine, except mine is definitely leaking. When I filled it up last there was a visible drip from the passenger side wheel well.

I bought a replacement one on eBay for like $40 and i'll try to get it swapped out when I have a free weekend.

You don’t have to actually pay the diagnostic fee if the issue is covered under warranty.

Afraid they’re going to say it’s wear and tear. Misuse of fluid (rainx) and make me pay out of pocket

Use of non-OEM fluid should not void your warranty as it is not a modification. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, a manufacturer may not condition its vehicle warranty on the use of any brand of filter, oil, fluid, etc. unless the manufacturer provides the replacemt item free of charge or if it is specifically published by the Federal Trade Commission in writing that only the vehicle manufacturer brand items may be used.

Use of rain x washer fluid is not an unreasonable use, and cannot logically be considered a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance - as such, you have not violated the terms of your warranty.

This is not to be construed as legal advice but I am a lawyer. PM for further info.
