Exhaust question from new owner
If I get a slip-on exhaust (axle back), and replace with stock every time it take it in for warranty or service, will they know? I'm not familiar with what the sensors are able to pick up and record as far a back pressure reduction, etc.
BMW's business model is to reject all claims if possible, and I don't want to make it too easy on them . The used car I just bought is on its last 5 months of CPO. Thanks. |

OP, if you're that worried, may I suggest you just unplug the valves to stay open or get a valve controller? All axle backs sound the same as stock, just louder and fartier. A valve controller is cheaper than any axle back and probably the best your car is going to sound if you're keeping all else stock. Valves 100% open is pretty darn loud for a stock car. CG Precision valve controller is $200, and resale is pretty high on them. In my opinion, it's worth the price to at least try it.

I would not worry about warranty with an exhaust.
Which axle back do you plan on getting?

Something that sounds like MPE, but without the price (or the V1 stress cracks). From what I am hearing axle back will not do much due to the other muffler at the mid. |

This, despite having JB4 fully connected within 3 months of new delivery (prior to bm3 availablity, so don't hate lol), charge pipes and DPs within 12 months, AA mid soon after, and various alterations to the intake.
