With the stock wheels you would have passed the V8 GTR...

The car handles worse and the comfort level decreases and the overall package feels more sluggish (and is slower) and it is easily noticeable. If you can live with that then great but I would never do it on an M.

Hey OP I just found these on tire rack. Honestly i don't know anything about the brand but they are similar in general shape to the FI, though closer to the vorsteiner 101 style BUT according to tire rack are very light. Can't vouch for the brand though.

Also I recently asked EAS about the weight of these and they were approximately 21lbs for 19x11. Let me find the link for you. And these are forged btw. Oh and also look up the wedsport sa55m. Very light and cheap(ish) and volk g25 are another great choice.

You do realize the wheel/tire combo you are researching will add 11lbs per corner to the car. You will feel the difference. Adding 44 lbs of unsprung weight to the car is probably the worst thing you could to the driving dynamics of the car.

There are wheels in your price range that will keep weights in line with the oem wheels. Even in 20 in.
+1, seriously. It's one thing to add a couple of lbs, but 11lbs per corner is freaken massive.

Personally if you are on a budget, stick to the 19s Apex wheels make. They are super light, look great IMO, and are affordable. Unfortunately, wheels will be the most expensive part on your mod list.

What grand kids? I for one will be disowned, divorced and still happy if I get the wheels I drool on daily. I admit it, morrs do something too pretty to pass on, but I'm really trying to be an adult here. Its not like the tiny detour to the ind office quarters is not mandatory, but I know for sure that the moment the spouse A hears about this forum, B, reads the shit I write, C, googles the prices of the stuff I just really have to have, he might actually speak for the first time in years.

So yes to the alps. I'll have the time.

The problem with TireRack is they are only going to recommend really weak offsets. I personally would not order anything directly off the website as the offsets will be very stock like which is one of the reasons to go aftermarket.

If you are looking for light 19" or 20" wheels, try to stick to a forged wheel. The RSV Forged wheels Supreme is hawking on here have some good options for around $4k. You can also look at BC Forged that will be in the same price range. All custom, pick your offset, finishes, etc. There are also a lot of flow formed wheels (or rotary forged) at these prices and below from reputable companies like HRE and Vorsteiner. Volk and BBS are always good options for forged wheels that are not custom made. Obviously the prices will range from $4k-$6k for anything but the FI or RI-D....

+1 but at least you are buying BBS wheels which in general do hold their value somewhat.

I had a friend try to sell my his company's "forged" wheels which shall remain nameless but he told me MSRP was $9k and he would let me have it for a hookup price. I'm pretty sure profits are near 50% so I told him no thanks

P.S. I'd like to add that in general terms, majority of people who mod cars degrade performance when it comes to picking wheels. Very few aftermarket wheels meet or beat OEM specs. Why do you think OEM wheels are so expensive - when it comes time to sell your baby, you will not one penny for those $10k wheels - ok maybe you might get a few pennies but most buyers will want the stock wheels.

Case in point I've been shopping wheels for my R8 for quite some time now. BBS does not make anything in proper offsets yet so it seems majority of the owners go to HRE since it's their only choice. Or they go to XYZ Forged wheel company because of monetary incentives. After looking at all the choices I decided to just stick to my stock wheels and add some spacers to give it the proper stance. The OEM wheels I have are optional on the R8 and look a lot like the Advan wheels that are so popular for the NSX crowd so why switch to a lower grade wheel.

At this point it looks like I found what I'm looking for but somebody made a comment about offsets that is making me hesitate. Can somebody explain that? What are offsets and how do they affect the look? Pics would be nice.
What you should REALLY be looking at is if the wheel is JWL/VIA or TUV certified. Then find a a wheel you like.

I think they are done with this. It was a side project and a whole lot of work w/o much profit. This is the CAD view of the RG63 wheel I got for my E92. They are JWL, strong & light, and only around $4k (5 years ago)

PS - Just sent Ralph an email.

If they were to do a new wheel, I think many would want to use the BBS FI as the base wheel.

RAC custom wheel for F8X?

Okay, contact made. This from Ralph:

"What do the stock wheels weigh? What are the stock sizes and offsets?

Chuck is long gone, I did the RG63s on my own regarding design and production. My question is regarding demand, as the minimum orders for doing this jumped to 40 sets. I still sketch and actually had some inspiration from a set of prototype wheels I saw recently. I speak to my connections at Champion once in a while as well. I just cannot imagine the buyers are as hard core enthusiasts as we were but maybe I am mistaken.

Ralph"

For those who have never heard of RAC, it stand for Ralph And Chuck. They called this side project (Ralph is a realtor, but a car enthusiast) RAC Monolites and produced wheels custom designed for several different cars. The RG63s were optimized for the E9X, and I participated in the design of them and a group buy through the old Roadfly forum. The were custom 10,000 ton forged in Japan by Champion Motorsports producer. They are light and extremely strong, and a bargain for the quality. I think he ended up doing two group buy runs of 30 sets in different colors. Cost was at or just under $4k, but that was 5 years ago. If there was enough interest, it sounds like he might consider doing it again.

My RG63s are for sale now, what a great wheel for the money. Greg, if there is interest I'd be in if the design were more like the lithe BBS FI. 40 is a big number however.

Good luck Greg. I still love my RG63's. That build thread was EPIC too. How often does the forum get DIRECT input on a wheel design.
It's probably a little too early to get a serious thread going on this.
You'd have to educated MANY on this forum about why it's important to have a certified wheel and what 10,000 TON forging is, or how a crappy "forged" wheel is worse than a well made cast wheel.
And all the other stuff that was discussed in that old thread that convinced many to buy in.
They also made an 18" RG63 for the E46 M3 guys too and sold a good number of them.

I've got a suggestion for those of you who are interested,

Similar style, but quite a bit less, the Klassen M52-R's. These are also forged and have been getting excellent reviews across the chart and have converted quite a few people that used to be loyal to other brands. Weight is low 20's.
