Talking "Do you know me?", PCA talking to

So one of my track buddies was up at Spring Mountain running his 991 GT3 with PCA. Jason is a super nice guy, really quick in his GT3. Takes his track days pretty seriously, laying down quick times for the duration of every session he's in.

Watch the video, he's being held up my a Wolf race car of all things? Hp/weight of something like 4.0. Didn't look like Jason was doing anything wrong, never got a point by, and then eventually gets a black flag. Little did Jason know, the guy in the Wolf is the owner of the track :/ and was none too happy with someone "tail gating and being racey" behind him.

The talking tos begin at about 19:30 in. The back and forth is hilarious.

What so you, BMW brethren?

"Do you have quarter million dollars to buy that car that you're behind?"

".. yeah"

Just because someone is driving a $150k car doesn't mean they can't afford a $250k car

He gets close under braking a few times (e.g. 11:00) - maybe that's what they are keying in on?

Still I agree that in general his driving is not overly aggressive, and that if the wolf didn't want him there, a point-by would have been a much easier solution.

The workers obviously have a soft spot for the "owner" of the facility. The car might be able to "run laps around you" but the driver didn't appear to be able to in this case. Laugh it off, give a few "yes sir, no sir" to the staging guys, and carry on.

I didn't see any issue here, pretty normal HPDE following in my experience (immediate and advanced groups). Hell I get closer to ppl myself, esp. those who are holding up people after multiple laps (like this guy was). I don't give a shit if it's a $2k miata or a $250k GT3RS, be courteous to those around you (no racing each other but still putting a little pressure on the guys who aren't paying attention to their surroundings).

It didn't seem like there was an issue, other than Mr Owner Wolf having a bruised ego from a "lesser" car being able to hang in the corners

It's the classic "C6Z06 that parks it in the corners not giving a point by to a spec miata " story played out in a bigger $$$ scale

Yeh F that club and the club owner. The kid could have came in if he wasnt getting a point by but the owner is a bitch for complaining about it.

Secondly, if you own a Wolf then you have enough experience to know that if someone is faster than you, you point them by. Instead, he's a baby like our turd president who the owner likely voted for, and just whined to the club because he wasnt the fastest out there. He knew he had the fastest car but he was the weak link.

Anyhow, the GT3 driver sounds brain dead too so I dunno. Have some balls when "i'm the boss guy" is talking shit to you.

I'd never attend an event with that club, but I've already made it a rule not to attend PCA events as the old geezers who run them and attend them should not be out there in the first place.

Didn't look like tailgating to me.

The price of the car is irrelevant.

I got blackflagged for drifting at Spring Mountain, and was almost blacklisted. They gave me the same threats about being banned for life, etc. When I pulled into the hot pit just like this guy did, the guy running the facility proceeded to dress me down, which felt like a gross overreaction. At no point in time in any of the driver meetings was this "No drifting rule" discussed.

They claimed I was flipping off the corner workers (I was waving at them to acknowledge I had received a black flag) and ignoring them, which was unbelievable to me. One thing it taught me is to wave with my entire hand instead of giving a thumbs up. Didn't want to have that gesture mistaken for anything else.

I can *totally* see this happening, it's no surprise to me. The facility is fantastic, the track is great, I just wish the people running it weren't so high strung.

For what it's worth, the track organizer has almost no power here - it's a private facility (ala Thermal) that opens up occasionally for outside parties.

This is why I don't run with slow groups like PCA (or BMW CCA, to be honest). 1010ths Motorsports, Chin, etc, is where it's at.

Spring mountain is a dealer for Wolf Racing Cars. Apparently the "owner" was giving ride to a customer and it looked really bad that it was slower than a GT3. And the "owner" probably tried his best before playing the black flag card.

Spread the word, if you can spare a quarter million, don't buy a Wolf!

Bravo Porsche, bravo Jason!

And if Wolf is indeed much faster than GT3, the "owner" should be fired by the real owner.

:

Owner had bruised ego, or just wanted to let him know who he was. I really didn?t see much of an issue. Just point the guy by. :

The problem would have been solved by giving a point by...

The PCA clubs I run with are very well mannered, although I have been called to pit out lane for 'rude and aggressive' driving. I'm not sure what that means. If you don't get close to the other car they'll say they thought you were following them.

Never ran with PCA, but the worst club so far was BMW CCA, where I was black flagged because several drivers complained about me to be too aggressive. I was told to slow down or I will be kicked out of the event
That was my first and last run with them.
My favorite club is Chin as well, trackmasters, group 52 and NASA.
Back on topic, that track owner should run in the novice run group if he doesn't like to be embarrassed by faster drivers is slower cars

Probably not just ego. Point by was not an option because "owner" was trying to make a sale of a quarter million car, it has to stay ahead of the less expensive car
