f82 bolt on job turned to something else

Hello everyone
So here is little backstory, how I ended up with my m4 f82...A couple months back my e92 320d got written off in an accident (non fault),took a while to get the money sorted with local gansters(insurance company) but once everything was good I set out looking for my next car.

with current UK used car market being completly out of its mind,I turned my eye towards damaged goods
and with my last car coming from copart i had some dealings with fixing things up(well my dad fixing but i help, sorta)
Enter brand new second hand damaged m4

So from here on things turned bit bad,she was cranking but not starting

at first we thought maybe electrical problem until we done a compression test and got not so confidence inspiring readings, from cylinder 1 to 6 we got 0,0,60,60,0,40 anyways with that done we proceeded with striping her down to find this

inlet camshaft is not turning because collar screw is broken,so from here on we gonna do some low end testing to see how far damage went down before deciding what to do with my expensive paper weight
If she is damaged too much we probably just gonna get second hand engine.
Also engine was not damaged in an accident by the looks of it, my guess previous owner finds out engine is off timing and ended up pushing her into the bushes to get insurance money on it
Does anyone know if we need specialty tools to swap engines? Like flywheel lock?
Is there any difference in manual m4 engine vs dct engine?
If anyone who dealt with simmilar problem could shed some light on for any other unexpected things to look out, thanks

Holy shit. I hope it was cheap.

I would just go ahead and find an engine.

Your title is misleading. When I think bolt on job, I think of a mid pipe install.

You bought a car from an Insurance Broker that buys cars that are a loss on a previous claim.

Big lesson to learn here man, install a new engine and move on.

Actually it was cheap enough untill engine problems came out, even with current market prices it might yet work out being cheaper

I wonder if the oil cooler had been damaged and the engine was run without any oil. It seems the cams seize before the rest of the engine when there's no oil. Good luck with the rebuild or new replacement motor

sudden and immediate stop of driving force couldve broken the cam or the cam couldve broken and caused the driver to lose control of the car who knows..

On the bright side the car couldnt have run for long with a broken cam so whatever damaged was done hopefully it wasnt too bad, youll probably have a couple bent intake valves . post pics of the teardown
