Great review bro. You said you noticed performance gains with this? Did you not notice any changes in performance running other chargepipes? I'm just curious.

It was definitely placebo I would imagine, I think the only time that you would actually have a gain is if there was a crack in your stock charge pipes or something. With that being said, I felt an increase in throttle response which makes zero sense to me. :

Lol understood. I seen they posted they did but I find it hard to believe that. Thanks for the clarification brother.

What did you use to take the powder coat off?
I have them in my shopping cart with my eventuri intake and I'm waiting to hit send..
I used Kleen Strip Aircraft Paint Remover, the old formula. The new formula without Methylene Chloride sucks.

Curious to know what are the other cp set ups you had prior to this?

I had VRSF, BMS (non-Elite), Evolution Racewerks, DOC RACING, SSR Performance, and now these Mishimotos.

The worst fitting ones were the BMS and DOC Racing, I think they are made by the same company because they looked identical. They don't even remotely fit correctly...

VRSF fits like garbage as well but slightly better than the first two. Still rubs in many places and the engine cover doesn't fit correctly afterward. Their solution for the bolt holding down the CP to the turbo is laughable, basically they include two undersized socket head cap screws with two giant washers. Soooo ghetto.

ER racing fits well but it contacted the stock airbox and it's way overpriced. $600 for a set of CPs that don't even fit perfectly...wut??

SSR performance fits great but it still needed some tweaking with the rear cover mount, you needed to raise the rear post a bit for the cover to fit correctly.

Mishimotos fit like OEM. Not tweaking necessary and they cleared everything perfectly. 10/10. Best charge pipes for the S55 in my opinion.

OP, I never even wanted charge pipes until you painted these

Also, you just gave me an idea to buy a set, sand down to the metal and finish in a satin clear, so it matches the stock CAC. I think it would look pretty cool in a hot-rod-y sort of way. But then I'd just need to refinish them once I got the Mishimoto CAC

I love the look, never passed my mind that white can looks so good on an engine bay! I was looking at the Mishimoto IC pack from EAS, now I'm convinced.

What intake you have on your car?

You just need to unscrew the post a couple turns and it will back itself out and raise up. Easy peasy.

That's so funny, after stripping them I had the same exact thought. Just leaving them bare metal so they will match the charge cooler, lol.

Great write up. I just ordered a set of their CP's and heat exchanger. I also plan to have them painted to match the exterior of my car.
