Well, my OEM CS LIP was installed without removing the bumper!! How? Well the bodyshop that I went to first removed the bumper and found out that the L & R brackets that holds the CF Lip were way off (maybe they didn't know how to install? don't know)... Didn't want to deal with calling the vendor where I purchased from and just asked the bodyshop if this can be done without installing the L & Brackets and the middle support... and my lip was installed perfectly without any issue. However, if you need to remove the bumper, you can do the proper way. I think you can find a pictures of how the L&R brackets were installed along with the middle support... Found one of the link https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1553417 Last edited by M3nmotion18; 06-26-2019 at 07:30 PM.. |

The metal brackets that goes to your car's metal frame behind your front bumper is the reason why it gives it that strength. Without the brackets the CS lip is just like the M Performance Lip, where it would flex when you are going very fast, that kills the point of having the CS or GTS lip in the first place.
OEM CS and GTS lip are both aerodynamically functional. Don't mess with it by not installing it properly. And yes, it does take a while.

It's a complete waste to buy the CS lip and not install the brackets. It basically makes it equivalent to a replica lip. Besides, taking the bumper off really isn't that hard; especially if you're a DIYer. All you need is an 8mm socket and 2 torx bits. |

I did the install myself and it is a pain in the a...
Bumper has to come off Here are the pictures where the brackets go Warning If you have the turner skid plate get ready for some cutting of the brackets or the plate as it will not fit without some modifications I ended up having to cut the brackets as cutting the turner plate to me would have weakened it way to much. You will also need to trim those plastic covers on the bottom (splash guards or whatever they're called) Just the little lip sticking out. (Marked as number 2&3) deflector lip left and right Sorry I did it in the rain so I didn't have time to take lots of pictures If I had to do it again I would pay someone and I am usually handy in things like this |

Thanks guys for the responses so far. Did any of you also use double sided adhesive tape along with the bolts to secure the lip to the underneath area of the main bumper?

If you're spending this kind of money on a lip, you're already going to be worried about damaging it. You want to install it exactly as intended with no compromises. The PITA installation is worth the peace of mind.
