I bought two hanger screws, 4 washers (metal)+ 4 rubber washers and connected it through the front mesh with two long posts (metal cylinders where the long strews go). < 5 bucks without harming the body.

are you not restricting airflow, and thusly, cooling capacity by doing that?

I've run the lightened US Millworks quick release plate for 6 months with no issues. You need to mount the plate per their instructions and play with the exact fitment to avoid tripping the front parking sensors. The quick release also works great for washing.

That's if you HAVE the front parking sensor correct? I did not get any packages on my M3, so I assume that its not included in my car.

What about using some sort of magnet where you could then just put the plate on when you park?

Correct, you will have more options when mounting the plate. Do, however, make sure to get the quick release so you can easily remove or adjust the plate.

I bought the Front tow hook and did not like the look. So relocated it to center without drilling holes to my front bumper.

Oh well, I already ordered the Millworks one. I will give it a shot and if I do not like it will try the other one. I will probably run no front plate until I get a ticket.

When I had the E60M5 registered in Virginia, I was ticketed twice for no front plate. Eventually, I did this:

1. Purchased the nifty black M5 frame, and four SHORT stainless M6 screw/nut sets.

2. Attached the frame to the plate securely, off the car using the aforementioned screws.

3. Placed one full strip of clear 3M Dual Lock (If you ever mounted the Valentine remote power block, this is the stuff they ship to attach it to virtually any surface) vertically on the rear side edges of the plate, leaving the matching mated strip attached.

4. Made sure the bumper was CLEAN, and applied a coat of wax.

5. Peeled the backing from the back half of the Dual Lock on each end of the plate.

6. Pressed the plate onto the center of the bumper, allowing the adhesive on the Dual Lock to attach to the paint on the bumper.

The result is a front plate that looks exactly like it has been attached to the bumper permanently, including dressy hardware, but can be removed easily for cleaning, and permanently for sale.

The thickness of the Dual Lock keeps the plate suspended about 4-5mm off of the bumper surface, so no metal rubbing. And the nature of the adhesive is strong, but nonpermanent on a painted and waxed surface. It's strong enough to withstand everything wind and weather-wise I threw at it, including more than one run to the limiter on (a major southbound highway I will not mention).

18 months later, when I returned the car to Louisiana (which, in addition to having drive-thru daiquiri shops by the dozen, does not require a front plate), I simply popped the plate off by separating the Dual Lock, then using a hair dryer, heated the bumper-side Dual Lock strips to just-hot-to-the-touch, and peeled them off. No damage whatsoever.

I know the tow hook mounts are popular and arguably less risky, but my (not legitimate, but still very real) OCD simply won't let me mount a plate off center.

Would anyone know which tow hook mount sits closes to the front bumper? I bought a rho-plate for the 135i and it stuck out quite a bit.

Thanks!

Just bought this. Quality is awesome, it did have a a big gap between the bumper and plate holder. I just slightly pushed it in and all done.

Mounted with M3 tape only (not the Velcro, but the automotive adhesive). Works great.

When I had my E60M5 i had a plate that doesn't need to be drilled to the front but was an OEM holder. Does the F80/82 carry the same oem holder that doesn't have to be drilled too?

Front license plate ideas?

I am looking for ideas on mounting the front license plates for my 2016 M4 Coupe. The dealership guy who was installing the plates advises me against drilling holes into the bumper 'for obvious reasons' and asked me to research the mounting plate that attaches to the tow hook assembly.

Unfortunately, OR requires both front and rear plates and I have only installed the rear plates at this time.

Any ideas or tips on how I can mount a front license plate without drilling into the bumper?

TX requires front license plates too, and I am on my 3rd BMW in 5 1/2 years with no front license plate, and only a warning from a state trooper to show for it.

328i -> 335i -> M3 - not sure if the model makes a difference.

But if you're sure you need one, look into Stow and Go (or Show and Go?). I've seen some members reporting that they're good.
