Anyone considering a Kia Stinger GT?

They actually look pretty nice and the options they come with for the price is pretty amazing.

The only thing that I personally don't like is that big ass ugly Kia badge. Not b/c it's a cheap brand but b/c the badge and logo are seriously ugly.

Call me a snob if you will, but there's no way I would pay 50+ grand for a Kia of any kind. Yes I realize Kia has come a long way, but add options and track package and you're looking at 58k.

If you are spending that much money may as well spend a little more for the real deal (Audi S5 sportback according to what Kia was trying to knock off).

I agree. 50k gets you into a nice 2015 F8x...add 8k in mods and you have a car that will be set up to destroy the Kia’s so called track package.

Are you saying one needs to add $8k of mods to an F8x in order to roll a Stinger with track package?

No. Saying that it will destroy it with 8k in mods.

I can't see myself springing for one but I can see someone choosing one over a 340 or something similar. You're right they pack a lot of stuff into a sub $60k car. Kinda of a side note I went shopping for a new truck this weekend and I was blown away a Tacoma can set you back more than $40k.

I would probably take this for a drive if I were in the market for a 340i, 440i Grand Coupe, S4, S5 Sportback, C43 Sedan, or something in those vehicle classes (sporty luxury sedan/hatchback), just to see how it stacks up. The important thing to keep in mind is that it is actually on the large side for this segment and, as such, comes in at about 4000lbs. So you are making that compromise in addition to whatever others may come with the deal (quality? tackiness?). That said, the Audi and Mercedes products I named aren’t exactly lightweight either.

But anyway, with 365hp, a true M3 alternative it most certainly is not. There are rumors of a potential V8 model which could make things a bit more interesting, but not much other than speculation exists right now. Plus, that would probably be the existing 5L naturally aspirated V8 which, while nice, is starting to get left behind as high end turbocharged six cylinder engines march toward and up over 500hp. Now, if Kia/Hyundai were to bring a turbocharged V8 to the table, they could actually make some real noise and ruffle some feathers.

No, because what I really want is the "Stinger GT4" concept

https://www.kia.com/us/en/content/vehicles/concept-cars/gt4-stinger

315hp, 28xx lb weight, 6mt and 170" length is amazing

I like the front, but the rear doesn't look good to me.

Isn't this the first result of Hyundai/Kia stealing BMW/Audi engineers and designers?

I think it's a good first stab. It will get some people to look at Kia who previously would not have. That said, I would not be interested. I would give them a couple of generations to fine tune/home their work before considering it.

Read the reviews; powertrain and chassis don't handle the power and the car feels squirrely under high speed cornering.

Not a chance i'd buy a Kia... of any sort... ever

Yeah, that doesn't sound familiar for the first couple years of our f8x.

"Traction limited" and "chassis not well sorted" are pretty different.

The "fixed" for later cars was to part to take away some low end torque. I never updated my firmware for that reason. Different rear alignment, tires and throttle modulation were all the "fixes" needed

Was lucky enough to keep my '15 sw as well for what it's worth. I prefer it too!

As for the Stinger, it looks like a great first attempt at a sporty sedan by KIA, that might need some tweaking too. Growing pains are pretty common with these type of cars that are asked to do more than just drive the kids to school or pick up groceries at the local marketplace.

I hate to sound like I'm judging, but I don't see myself ever buying a Korean product of any sort except a Television.

Granted the way they are operating, they will have their hands in everything very shortly.

First - you don't need to add anything to an F8X to walk all over the GT KIA.
I wouldn't buy that car even it were 20K less - you will never find me behind the wheel of KIA
