I wouldn't run the tensioners on track, either. You risk melting the plastic.
I was worried, so I reached out to Jeff Riter (High Performance Division at Essex). This is what he had to write.

"Hey Eugenio,
Our recommendation for the track is to run the standard bridge pieces that come in the calipers. That gives the lads the greatest freedom to move, expand, etc with temperature change.
That said , there isn't anything plastic in the Las tension kit, and we've had plenty of customers run them on the track with no issues. So no worries if you've been or are running them."

Hey Man, which part of plastic are you referring to? Thanks

No plastic? I looked at mine again this evening and I swear it’s a plastic block with a curved piece of metal attached. I guess there’s a front wheel coming off tomorrow for further investigation!

Edit: I pulled the front wheel today and it appears as though the tension kit is actually a block of black anodized aluminum and a piece of stainless steel. I scratched it a bit and could see the silvery metal. In hindsight, it would be foolish to use plastic so close to the brake pads.

Thanks for bringing this up. I won't be swapping out the tension kits anymore and this saves me a few minutes at the track.
