Brake pad replacement light after changing pads

Hi guys, just replaced my pads with some dedicated track pads for an upcoming event. After changing the pads, decided to disconnect the rear brake wear indicator but when i started it, i got a light on my dash saying to replace rear pads. I then put the sensor back in thinking it would go away but it didn't disappear after about 20 minutes of driving. Just got back home, is this something that will go away after the ecu goes to sleep? Or is there a way to erase it? I tried to plug in my code reader and it did not show any codes…
