a photo from a track day this weekend. the guy driving the car (100% stock on pirelli p zeros, I think) is probably a little better of a driver than me. we were both in the same session but never lined up together .. I sadly never saw him once. beautiful car though!

Quick comparison from my buddy who had the Ftype for two years now the M3.
Ftype was faster but He can drive faster in the M3.

Great choice. As I said in your other thread, if i didn't need the extra space / utility, I'd have gotten the F type in lieu of the M3. Love the drama of that V8.

On a very loosely related note, I just picked up a new RRS with the SC V8. That motor feels beastly even strapped to a 5,200 lb SUV (and it's only 510hp in the RRS). Not to mention its sound. It's weird having the wife's car sound better than my own.

i think OP is in Oregon so they don't pay sales tax, i think at 980 plus taxes, is totally doable in California.

Great car for sure. Looks slick and mean... sounds great. But if you say that the M4 has no soul and this under-performing Jag with no manual does , LOL! M4 with ZCP will have soul. Spend another 10K on M Perf and MPE exhaust on it oh yah, it'll really have soul.

They are both great cars but it's 110K vs 75K, 2 seater vs 4, hotrod muscle vs light agile turbo. I can't defend the M4 even though I love it... the Jag edges this one but not by much.

Sounds more like you're trying to justify your M3/4 purchase than him justifying the Jag. The OP had an M3/4, while I'm assuming you guys haven't owned the Jag.

I never understood that. Just because someone moves away from the M3/4 doesn't make him a bad person, damn

Congrats on the new ride OP. Definitely one of the more interesting cars around

Absolutely beautiful car.....enjoy it in the best of health!

As much as I adore my F80, i'd drop it in a heartbeat for this car at that payment. Not a knock on the M, more of a testament to the visceral response I have to the F-Type R.

Right because I posted a thread about this topic?

I've driven both cars hell I considered the f type r. Didn't fit my needs but the driving dynamics and transmission aren't even close to the M.

But cool story bro, really cool.

Secondly; the car definitely handles just as good as the M4, if not better. It's VERY rigid.

You have to drive it to believe it. The noise is makes is like a mix of a Maserati and C63. In other words, nuts.
Based on manufacturer claim, ZF is almost twice slower than M DCT! (200 ms vs less than 100 ms) ... Also great launching is not because of transmission, it's because of AWD and of course you can't compare to any RWD M Cars... anyways, congrats and enjoy your new ride

I can't compare the driving dynamic of Jag with M4 since I just have limited seat time on both car but after driving the 650i for 2 years with exact the same transmission of Jag (ZF8HP70) and then M6 with the DCT for over 2 years I can tell you they are not even close... Although ZF is smoother but not as fast and sharp as DCT + the superiority of clutch over torque converter (i.e. the creep of ZF or the lack of traditional physical connection between the flywheel and clutch disc)... In my opinion, DCT has more sporty feeling than ZF

Lol at "UNDER-PERFORMIMG". The Jag has its own merits and so does the M4. The guy loves it, as do many others who have bought the car. I also wouldnt call the V8 R with AWD under-performing, just go watch the reviews.

In all honesty, the M4 also under-performs is many ways (Sound, traction issues etc) . Look at what the new Camaro SS at half the price is doing to the M4 as well, so the price argument is somewhat moot.

The only thing I would consider somewhat of a valid argument is the DCT vs ZF as we know that the DCT is way faster in shifts etc.

To each his own is all Im saying.

The lease deal was I think a very rare one, but if you feel the need to go searching. Jaguar of Seattle. Ask for Dmitri and ask about under a 1000 a month for an F-Type R.

It's a new month so no idea if the rates are different especially incentives. They have two F-Type R's in stock if I'm not mistaken.

Small update:

The car gets 1000x more looks than my old M4 did. It sounds like an eargasm driving around and the pops/crackles NEVER gets old. It's very fast as well.

It's completely civilized when exhaust is off/transmission is in D/ etc.

Guys, I'm sorry.. but either BMW needs to step it up or just stop making M's. LOL.
Current offerings just can't compete the the visceral competition out right now. Went to cars and coffee here locally and rode in a 991 GT3 and a Shelby GT350... and I mean damn BMW. Where did you lose your way? Those cars are 50k and the other 130k... yet both had this draw on me (as well as others). Obviously price is not the factor here anymore... look what Camaro SS's are doing to the forums (I know it's an ugly car, but for 35k..)

Wow! A whole 100 ms difference. Honestly, this difference wouldn't even be a bullet point as to why I would choose one car over another. You're literally holding on by a thread if that's what stopping you.

You should read the comments correctly (and patiently) before jumping to other's conversation
My quote wan on his 90% and then for your information there is difference between the word "fast" and " faster" ... in this case both transmissions are fast but DCT is twice faster no matter you can or you can't feel it... and if you read my quotes correctly (again) I didn't say for 100 ms I changed my car or stopped me.. did I?

I don't see what all the hype is about the looks of this Jag. To me it's sort of like a cheap knock off of an Aston Martin DB and it doesn't exude a sense of being a premium brand anymore. Maybe that's due to Ford getting involved and now an Indian car company (Tata)? The premium image is no longer there for me I'm sorry.

I don't think this thread was created with premium image in mind, but rather from someone who got in the car, drove it, and then bought it.

I sat in one and started it up once, but didn't drive. Not one thing didn't feel premium. I do think the wheels need some work. They look *Chevrolet* to me a bit.
