Anyone in Melbourne had a go at this yet?

I have a F15 X5 and F83 M4 Comp but what I don’t have is the guts to trial a swap 😀

Tommy's Garage did a big screen update - required some minor dash surgery but nothing scary:

Great work. Any gotchas? Anything overly complicated?

My workshop did the grunt work and pretty much followed the YouTube video.

Took longer as my car has the leather stitching which just meant more time grinding.

I did the coding myself, just followed the info in the video.

I think if you have the gear and tons of patience it wouldn't be too bad at all.

Hey mate,

Have you got a link of the unit you bought? I'm. Finding it pretty hard to find a unit that works with the EVO software. Also did your workshop have to trim the screen like in the vid as well?

The screen doesn't get trimmed just the plastic housing around it and yes it will need trimming....

And from this thread. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1570724

You need to grab a f15 touchscreen. Part number is: 6816387. Your headunit is NBT Evo2 so do NOT get 9347878, it won't work on your car (unless coding + voltage regulator). A lot of people got 9347878 on the f30 forum because they have NBT headunit (Pre-LCI).

I just searched Ebay for 6816387, the screen is from an X5 I believe.

Found one for about $500.

I really want to do this mod but wonder is there a way i can do this without seeing the trim marks on the sides. Can we swap the bezel over?

The screens are different sizes so I doubt you could swap the bezels.
