JB4 Boost Limit

So, I've seen this many times and not sure what, if anything I'm doing wrong.

I set the boost safety on Map 6 at 27psi. That should hold true for Maps 1 & 2 ... But yet, on my app... When I double tap the boost, to show max boost... More often then not... I see 28,29 and even 31 twice.

Any ideas?

I'll be back out in the morning... I'll get a few. Just reduced it to 20... But traffic was shitty. Could not try that out.

What is a proper boast safety number for a car with DP's, exhaust (sure that doesn't matter).. Running 93 fuel?

The boost safety is the maximum setting before the JB4 will switch to safety mode, but the key is that this value is only used when accelerating. When you let off the gas the throttle closes and boost which is read prior to the throttle spikes up. Most apps are not smart enough to filter out these values so as a result maximum boost as read in an app is normally not accurate or relevant.

Sounds like a perfect explanation. Thank you.

What should I set the safety at then, any advice?

The boost safety setting is also the "full" boost value when using the JB4 in dash boost gauge. For most situations I'd set it to 28psi.

Okay. Did some trials coming to work.

Couple quirks, but I don't think their major.

6:32:12 Log,
2nd gear limited to 15psi, but it hits 19.6 & 18.2. Doesn't hold that pressure.

I'm going to attach screen shots, I don't know how to upload them otherwise.

6:12:12 Log,
Boost safety at 20psi, one run hits 25... Another hits 24... Again not holding that pressure, but there none the less. I'm assuming that's normal???

i see you set 12 on 1st limiter , is it stand for 12 psi for max boost on 1st gear ?? coz i really no idea what the valve exactly stand for , coz if i use steering control to set boost limiter , there only 0-8 i can set....

Yes (I think) .. The 12... For 1st is supposed to be maximum boost in that gear.

You set it via the JB4 software or I believe the new firmware allows you to set via steering wheel controls as well.

'***************************************
'OBDII In Dash Menu
'***************************************

'0 map menu, map shown on tach (TACH shows Map)
'1 Active Sound MUTE. (Tach = 0 (off/don't mute) Tach =1 (disable active sound))
'2 Boost gauge on fuel, scaling in dash is 0 to boost safety setting, turns on when gas pedal is pressed 50% or more and turns itself off when you resume low throttle use. (Tach = 0 (off) Tach =1 (on))
'3 LED MAX brightness mode. For those with factory LED headlights this option brightens HALO during nighttime operation. (Tach = 0 (off) Tach =1 (on))
'4 OBDII Diagnostic Code Delete. (Tach = 0 (off) Tach =1 (on))
'5 1st gear boost limiter. (Tach = boost cap / 3)
'6 2nd gear boost limiter. (Tach = boost cap / 3)
'7 3rd gear boost limiter. (Tach = boost cap / 3)

I have the Bluetooth module so I think I can just adjust it there in the menu. Over on N54tech terry recommended 12 for 1st and 17 for second.

Can't get over 19 psi

So I am running map 2 with 30% e85 and 70% 91 octane with full bolt ons and on the jb4 tune but I can't hit higher than 19 psi. It sets the limiter at 28 off the bat so I am very confused as to why I wouldn't be anywhere close with full bolt ons such as: colder spark plugs, chargepipes, intakes, catless dp's, top Mount intercooler, and ofc the jb4. Please help!
Got to 21 barely in 4th
