I can see another delay to my car being built here as they take the parts for new build to fix the current issues, although that would cause them massive problems in the production chain. So not sure if it is something they would do.

Thanks chaps. Just had an email from Tony and he is about from tomorrow.

Maybe you can buy it from elsewhere, but as Tony did a great deal I dont mind getting it through him (I assume he or his dealer may get some cut for selling it, dont know).

Just rang up BMW HQ and they said my car is affected with the diff.

However they stated it is a "Quality Enhancement" and not a "Recall". Difference being is the Recall is a safety issue and should be done urgently whereas a Quality Enhancement is: get it done when you get around to it.

So no immediate rush it would seem......

That's good news for those affected.

Strange though given some people are having there cars taken from them. That would indicate a safety issue rather than enhancement.

I smell BS!!! As usual communication in a large company is crap!

I've now been told mine has gone to stage 8200 and is not impacted. Should be at dealers week 32.

Just checked with the Genius and mine is status 9000 Departed Plant after being on 5500 since July 1st. I guess it will be on the same boat as yours.

So I wonder if mine just wasn't affected? Same build dates or whether its not as bad as the Internet makes out?

From today, I have no car for a while.

Went into the dealer to book it in for the RIS and mentioned about the diff issue - which the service guy knew nothing about.

They had a chat with the M technician and he confirmed the diff issue and said that although its a "quality" issue, they would not recommend driving the car. In fact they went on to say that it could go with a bang, ie catastrophic failure.

Just not worth the risk so dropped it off at the dealer to stay there for a while ...... and await a call from BMW regarding an Enterprise car in the meantime.

I dont think the dealer principle will be too pleased either as he was told he cannot drive his M3.

See I still find this odd. Either it is a big problem or not. If it is then they should be calling people in and taking the car from them not just waiting for people to take them in. It's a bit shit really.

While I'm waiting for my car to be fixed (it's been sat on the lot for 2 weeks), the dealer got me loan through BMW enterprise.

It's a 750i m sport. The 4.4 twin turbo certainly softens the blow slightly

Nice one! I'm going to insist on a decent car. Any tips?

At least you want the same car, but given the terrible experience, blah, blah, then an M5

Obviously they know the rrp of your vehicle, but there is nothing wrong with reminding them.

I asked for an M but there was no availability

Then I simply asked for the best spec 7 series they had. Initially it was gonna be a 730, but then the dealer worked his magic.

It depends what you want, but I think there is scope to get high spec 4, 5, 6 and 7 series.

Oh and I also told them I had a special function to attend and was obviously distraught that despite my car being at the dealer I could not collect it

Also I got my dealer to do all the leg work, and he was ace!

I've just checked with my dealer and unfortunately I'm on the list. I've only done 700 miles since the middle of June so not reached the RIS yet, but this is definitely not good news.

Which number did you use to call BMW HQ? My dealer says mine isn't effected but I want to make sure myself.

Cheers

I've been told parts will be available week 15th August and also it's a "quality enhancement" but haven't told me not to drive the car so I'm keeping calm and carrying on. They need a day to change the mysterious part.
