Is it a non-CP? How does it compare to yours Scott as an overall drive?

Ok, not driven the car yet since the strut changed, but the dealer just left a message saying the car is better, but the rattle noise is still there. They’ve took another M3 CP out to compare and confirm that one does the same so they are saying it’s a characteristic of the car.

It is a non cp and it's great, no rattles and the ride quality is a lot better and I think this is down to the wheels. It's running 19" 437 with continental sport contact 6 and the difference is night and day. The grip is so much better in these conditions, the mpss are rubbish compared with these..

Think I am getting a set of 437 and continentals

Interesting, I think Guy has said the same, well with regards the wheel size. In fact I think I read somewhere (cutters I think) that he is even going to sell his 666's.

Be careful thinking 437's will solve the harsh ride issue as the CP has harder suspension anyway.

I don't think it will solve it just make it a little better and a lot less road noise..

Are you saying they are saying the car sounding like a bag of spanners is normal??

BS is what I say, I don't think they have a bloody clue what is normal and they obviously have no idea what is wrong half the time.

I'm well pissed off at the moment with it. The changes today again made no difference so stuck with the 320d. Called BMW UK and they weren't interested basically said sort it with dealership. So I told them to sort it with the dealer as I was sick of having run around sorting it out.

Called me back and said the service manager is off and he will call me back within two working days...

Not happy at all.

Not good at all foggy and certainly spoils the ownership of a fantastic car.

To honest, now I've driven mine home, it does seem better than before. Only driven it about 2 miles so I'll know more tomorrow. Tbh it was never that bad in the first place, Scott's been in my car and think he said he couldn't really hear anything, certainly compared to his. You could hear it over rough surfaces.

I'm probably more annoyed with a clicking noise coming from the rear which I think is the parcel shelf. Again that seems better but not 100%.

I think it's just your luck if you get a decent BMW in terms of build quality. All 4 BMWs I've owned have had some issue or other and the best one I've driven by far is the 530d. Didn't have a single noise or rattle.

I had a 430d GC loaner today and that rattled too.

3/4 years ago I used to get really wound up with these issues, more so with my first brand new one that I expected to be "perfect". But nowadays I let it go to an extent as I know what I expect with BMWs.

We shouldn't have to put up with it, these are expensive cars .... But sadly, that's what they're like.

So hang on, they are saying they all do it??

If they tell me that they can have the car back, the loaner I have at the moment is bloody terrible for the rear knocking.. However everything else is great though, I really like the standard M3 the wheels/suspension setup is so much better and there are a lot less rattles

I personally think it's better with the continentals, the MPSS are rubbish in comparison..

I would love to hear from someone who has had a 2016 onwards M4 and M3 as the M3 I have is a lot softer. Even in comp package spec I found yours to be softer compared with mine.. Also I find the M3 a lot quieter..

Since my change of heart following that 335d I tested the other week, I drive mine in Comfort suspension all the time and I find it not bad at all. Still not as comfortable as the 430d loaner I had yesterday, but its not bad given the handling.

But yes, I remember you commented on differences between your M4 and my M3, both CP's.

Have you tried yours on 19" yet? I really like it, both the regular MPSS and the now Hankook winters on the 437m wheel. I'm not saying I won't put the 666 20s back on but I won't be rushing to do it
