Servicing Costs

Hi all, first time post on this side of the forum so - hello!

Having recently taken delivery of a 2018 M4 CP I'm still at the point where I can add the Service Pack but I'm unsure if it's worth it or not.

For those of you in the UK, what are the actual costs for the different services?

IE, RIS, 16k service and 32k service?

Cheers. Rukka

No idea - but mine came with the service pack.

I'd just get it tbh as I've heard scary stories about the major plug service being north of £1k

Watching for real answers.....

The way I'm thinking Mark is around £200-£250 for the RIS, £300 for the 16k and then as you say, £1-1.2k for the 36k service. There is a brake fluid flush in there too at 2 years.

However, I do 12k or slightly less a year so it's debatable if I'd get to the 36k BIG service within the 3 year limit. I had my 440i for 20 months and did 19k so based on that, the service pack isn't worth adding for me

I paid £239 for the RIS and £169 for the 1st service (it's only an oil change) after that.

I've had 4 services over 68k miles IIRC it was something like 240/250/900/340

If that helps at all.

Cheers Wills2 Sort of what I thought but the costs do vary a lot from dealer to dealer.

Am I right in thinking that after the RIS, the first service is around 17k miles? (actually at 17k rather than RIS+17k) and second service at 34k?

If so, I would get the value out of the pack given that there is also a lifty inspection service and brake fluid at around 35k

My RIS was done at 800 miles

I'm on 9800 ish and the CBS is showing 8000 miles to next service making it almost 18,000 miles.

You may have to drive the last 10,000 really hard to get within the 36,000

Yes they replace the spark plugs as well which is the bit that costs a lot of labour hence the £900 price, you're right on the cusp with your mileage I'd get the pack and then you're covered and can drive the car without wondering.

As you say, I'm right on the cusp. Last car did 19k in 20 months so I'm still not convinced Also, the way I'm looking at it is that I will pay out £1k now to "possibly" save £600 in 3 years time......

Year 1 - RIS @ approx £300

Year 2 - First "proper" service @ approx £300 again

Year 3 - (may be 4 and out of service pack) £1k

Who knows - I might not even have it at that point!

Nah - pay as you go servicing me thinks. As long as I know its coming it won't be a shock.

Something to consider - oil top ups are included in the pack.

One of those and you're in credit.

Although Wills reckons only demo cars need oil top ups...!

Been into the dealers today and got pricing. £301 for RIS.
£301 at 18000 miles
£1127 for the big one which is at 36000 miles.

I'm still not going for it as I know I won't hit 36k in 3 years.

Top ups? What's that? Never had a BMW use oil - ever. :

Same here 10 BMWs and only one used a bit of oil it was an ex demo e92 M3 which I suspect was thrashed from cold before the RIS hence the oil usage and hence Mark's post reference.

Yes, Lloyd Colne is the dealer I use I always haggle with them but they expect that after buying 4 cars from them and the fact I've spent 4k on MP bits in the last year alone. (I moan at their pricing but with a smile on my face)

But if you ask for a better price your dealer will give you one. I say this as someone who isn't great at negotiating.

Ok will do. I'm lucky I suppose as my dealer is in the town I live (and I've bought 4 in the last 5 years) and have a 5th on order (long story) so I'm a good customer. But - there is another franchise less than a mile from where I work and have used them for service in the past - so can play them off to some extent

Well you should be definitely getting the "good customer" discount then! Be cheeky, I am!

I always go back the Lloyd and give them all my business the MP bits servicing on the Z4c etc...it helps get a good deal across the piece.

For those who may be interested...

If willing to travel to Wakefield, the full service can be done for £500.

In with that is Oil, oil filter, micro filter, both air filters, spark plugs, vehicle check, sump plug and reset idrive to show it's been done & idrive service history programmed.

For clarity & to avoid any misunderstanding, this is a cash price or bank transfer.
You will NOT get a receipt or invoice.

What you will get is everything else, done at a main dealership with genuine new parts.

Other services at comparative savings are available.

PM me for serious enquiries only please.
