Maybe it's 98% of the looks with the door cards and interior and the hood and tail lights. but the driving experience is very different. very very different. the M4 CS is closer to the M4 Comp than it is to the M4 GTS.
Yeah - the M4GTS is a beast that belongs on the track - the CS is more usable day to day but still track capable.

Years from now GTS probably will be highest dollar collectible if that's what your after because it was the highest performance version and the lowest in total production.

Maybe in the states, otherwise I would say DTM Champion Edition will be most collectible.

Completely agree. I have a CS but have driven the GTS on track multiple times.
CS is a nice compromise for a DD, GTS is significantly more sporty

Nice to see some positives comments on these cars, they were treated pretty harshly by the peanut gallery, as were the 95 BMW M3 LTW, when first introduced, look at them now.

Too late for a deal now. Cheapest one at $89.995 on cars.com. Only two there, the other one at $299,900 (this is a joke, right?).
Just 3 months ago they had over 10 of them and 2 at $70,000. Great deal for whoever bought those...

It's a bit of a running joke at this point. The same thing has happened with many generations.

In this case, first it comes out at 130k. Cue to all the pathetic 'for that price I'd buy a GT3' comments before any reviews are out.
Sooner or later people wake up to the real world, where Car and Driver just tested a lightly optioned 992 '4' with a MSRP of 129k, and actual GT3s sell for 200k new.

At 70k they were insane value and I'm not surprised the market has already corrected itself.

I doubt it has absolutely anything to do with the G8X M being 'ugly'

New listing on BAT, 61 miles, 7 days to go, will be interesting.

There is one for sale by a dealer in the Chicago area for $89,995 with 429 miles. Certified by dealer. The BAT auction will probably not go any higher.
Will be interesting indeed...

Someone actually paid nearly $300k for #803!?! When I first saw that listing, I thought it had to be a typo.

Probably a very wealthy collector that wanted it for their collection. Pretty amazing that the last one off the assembly line is still in brand new condition.

Too bad it's just going to continue to be unused.

This played a role for me.

I first wanted to order the new Touring but, ofc, it's not coming to the US. Then I saw the M3/4 reveal and, while being ugly wasn't a deal breaker, being so much heavier with the same power than the previous car was. So ya, this pushed me to look at the best iteration of the previous generation (i.e. GTS).

Right, GTS value speculation question has become even more straightforward with G8X release/details.

For a variety of reasons, will the number of traditional U.S. M enthusiasts who conclude the same as you exceed GTS supply? Are there just a few more than ~400 of us?

Ah, yep.

And if the G8X driving characteristics trend more toward mini-M8 and mini-M5 than F8X -- I have my suspicions -- add another chunk to the "new" GTS audience.

In related news, Enthusiast Auto looking like visionaries.

I wouldn't consider myself an M enthusiast, my last few cars were Porsches and I like anything interesting no matter the brand, but I suspect you're right and could see a new wave of folks interested in the GTS due to the specs of the new car. Maybe a small wave but some sort of surge could occur which may help buoy values.

Yes, speculate enthusiasts dating back to E36 and E46 gen (I'm in that group) are going to take a 2nd look.

It might not have been exactly what they'd wanted when released, but as compared to where M appears to be headed, GTS is looking like a final send off for us old schoolers

Right, when released the value proposition didn't make much sense either. At around 80k now, it makes a lot more sense. And where these M cars are headed (more homogenous, heavier etc.) something special like this stands out for those in the know. I suspect even a lot of car enthusiasts don't have this car top of mind so it's a bit of a hidden gem at the moment.

Couple years later, people think prices will stay stable for the next 10 years and then climb?
