Yeah Lups, go ahead and buy a DCT... I'd be more than happy to convince you on that. Don't beat me though, I'm the tech kid here so I have to sell the good stuff to everybody

Milban Thank you for your interest in helping, but the manual is the deal breaker, I'm taking (or at least hoping to take, if I don't demolish it first) this to a country of ice and snow, can't have the DCT.

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=953254 I suspect your mind is made up, and the 6MT is fun for sure. Always good to be informed about others experiences either way though. |

Lups, its out there somewhere. Cancelled orders, low demand areas, whatever... I'm sure your BMW is somewhere. So you would do a cross country trip back home if you found one?

I know. I'm an idiot, but I have decided to count it as a charming quality, not as something to get rid off. |

Not a problem at all. I really don't like the spouse enough to ask an other opinion on this now. "Go next year, kids will be bigger and you can take them with you." He really has the point of my trip figured out!

Haha, you make Sedan's Cali pick up sound too close to home for comfort.
Still, they will get a call in the morning, thank you so much, Accce, you are now on my short list of people who would get a Christmas card, if I ever bother starting to write them to anyone else than my lovely tire dealer back home. |

My advice (not that I think you'd listen ) is that you should wait. You'll forever regret not getting your M4. Patience pays off every time and the M4/3 is worth waiting for. Alternatively, the only other two cars I would recommend is a Cayman GTS or a Corvette C7 which is about the same price range. I've been through many different cars and my opinion is that the M3/4, the Porsche Cayman/911 and the Corvette are the only three cars that handle awesomely and put a smile on my face everytime.
One indicator of great handling cars is what you see show up at the track. I've done over four years of track days, about 30-40 of them in total and I will see a lot of M3s, Porsche 911s and Caymans and Corvettes. These are the cars that when setup correctly usually hang together and are very fast. I hardly ever see any Audis or other german / higher end brands (not counting mustangs and occasional Evos, STIs etc). |

I can't handle buying an other Audi, that's completely out. Also Vettes are ruled out by the sheer looks, I can't understand them at all. Porsche would be the way to go, I'm now looking at the really old ones, since apparently they can be seen without loosing the lunch. I hate going hungry. I know, I'm completely pathetic. |

I went pass our Porsche dealer today to have a quick look at the Macan since I haven't seen it before. They had a white S for $72k and black Turbo for $78k but nah. While the rear and front is nice the side profile is kind of weird and a small SUV can't escape the cute ute look, not even a Porsche.
However back on topic. I also looked at the rest of the cars and any 991 is just automotive porn. I'm not a fan of the look of the Boxster but the new Cayman is really cool. I don't think you'll regret getting one if that's what you end up with. Old 911s are way cool, 993 and older but overpriced IMO. |

As for the rest of you, thanks for all the pm's. I really appreciate how many of you have contacted your dealers to ask for allocations. This is internet, nice things are not supposed to happen, but apparently even this is possible. |
