The new DCT shifts sound fantastic. They have a distinct non current M-DCT sound to them. That could be a FI thing. However, they have a very Ferrari sound to them. Listen to some 458 videos of the car being pushed - you should be able to hear it.

As far as the exhaust note goes I agree not too bad at this point. Better than I expected.

The M3 will be a win. BMW M has never missed in the past and doubt they will. If you can wait i would if i were you so that you can test drive both and make a decision based on your needs. I know for me the cts-v would never be an option but thats me

Because your M3 lacks torque compared to the 335i and you don't like to rev till 8.400 RPM ?
Because massive torque is more fun than 8000 rpms, but hey that's just me.

Why does every press release I see about the F80/F80 say that it will have 450 horsepowers?

Does anyone else think it's odd to see this much development and coverage on the F82 before the F32 has even been unveiled?

The articles here don't say exactly 450hp or say its a confirmed fact. They just say that they expect power to be around 450 horsepowers.

These sound very close to the 335is... I wonder if it will be a little/bigger twin-turbo set up like on the is with slightly more displacement or will it be 3 turbos. If they shave weight and get the bhp higher with the down low torque.... this will be a very exciting car to have. I would mos def not get the dct in this car. Wonder if it will be pushing ~1.1 bar

Sounds good.

I don't know what people mean by "good bye 'proper' high reving m car" It's not like the redline on this thing is going to be 5500.

If I recall correctly, the original M3 had a 7200 rpm redline. I doubt the new one will be much less than that. Probably will be quite close to it.

If you had all the people bitching about "not high enough redlines" I am sure you could put black tape over the tach and they would never know the difference.

My lowly yet very satisfying 330i doesn't rev much past 7000 rpm, but it is very entertaining and responsive.

Why does everyone always act as if the cts-v is an alternative to the m3? The v is huge and is designed to compete against the m5. Had I decided not to get a m3, the v wouldn't have been an option.

I think it sounds pretty good. We have to remind ourselves that this is NOT our V8 sound anymore. It's a 6 cyl. so it will sound different.
Once you get past that and acknowledge it, you can appreciate the sound it produces.
I've replayed this video 5 times already, lol

Only non-M3 drivers approve a turbocharged laggy low revving M3.

In the time of M3 E30, 7.200 RPM was high. Today any gazoline engine redlines at 7.000 RPM. So for a sportscar like M3, that costs 70.000 €, it is low.

Sure we would get to know. We can clearly hear that and even feel that.

It is not a question of redline, but of how power is delivered. The N52 is more fun than the N54 and the S54 is even better than the nice N52.

All H/R NA engines have "massive" high-end torque. High-end torque is good, but not if it ends at 6.000 RPM or lower like in turbocharged engines.
