I could care less about warranty. They will know regardless if it’s been tuned and they want/need to dig deep enough in a catastrophic failure.

If you dont care about your warranty, then pay for a bench unlock, its about $250 USD + shipping, after that you can load BM3 or whatever tune you like!

Otherwise you will have to wait for someone to figure out a OBD2 way (without physical bench unlock) for the S58 ECU (It should eventually come) as it should be the same way for the locked S55 ECU.

You guys could mail Alex and see what he says about it. He usually responds quickly.

My issue with bench unlock is I am not mechanically inclined enough to take it out myself and I don’t have anyone around here that normally works on BMW except for dealers.

Become friends or have a side chat with a BMW tech and ask him to come and do it after work or on the weekend. A lot of them do side work for a good price.

You do not need someone expert in BMW, You need someone with mechanical experience and methodical and with the tools. I took off my DME in 60 min without any experience in BMWs and I am an average DIY.

There are videos in YouTube, long enough, to see all the steps. I watched them several times and marked every plug and write every step I did. This way is easier to do it backwards.

You should flash back to stock if you are using your car on the road. Our tunes are for indoor/off-road use only

Hey Friends-

Tune Update- Running Strong, but I was chasing an intermittent CEL. Could have been my mixtures but I thought tune could handle up to E50. however, I do not think I have a tune that can handle up to E50. I believe there was some confusion due to two different statements on what the tune can handle in terms of E85. Currently trying to get it sorted out, and will have an update soon.

Still have to get the car dyno'd too.

Yes the guy with the poverty logs if that's who you are referring to ha.

To anyone reading this-I'm not knocking the tune or anything, I love it, as well as Alex's customer service. I am just keeping the thread updated with my experience with the revisions etc.

Update- Alex cracked the code and no more CEL, and running E40. Still doing a bit more data logging..but I dont even have a rough start when I start the car anymore either...and its like 30 degrees here.

Tuning wizard Alex strikes again. On to E45 when I run out of gas. Once I hit E50 and its all good to go, I will get on the dyno.

I want to say thanks to Alex publicly. We have gone through many revisions, as well as many emails and he has gotten the job done, every time. It's nice to have a tuner that is very supportive in that way.

Hey, anyone know if it’s possible to have a flame coded to a certain button or mode? Not that I want flames all the time but just for those nights when you feel extra. And also anyone know if flames bad for the car?
