S55 crank bolt

Has anyone thought of welding the stock crank bolt sprockets together and essentially turning it from a three piece to a two-piece?

Why not just use one of the many available 1 or 2 part hubs?

The biggest cost is the labor. Why chose a half-assed solution of welding the hub together when the proper solution is a correctly engineered replacement hub?
