2022 - Share Your Upcoming Track Day(s)
Feeler thread - Let's be honest, the F8x track community is the GOAT. I met, and still plan on meeting, a few of you guys at the track. Everyone has been great except Montaver because he's a Lewis Hamilton fan.
I figured we can use this thread to coordinate some track days for regulars on this forum and new guys that are looking to start tracking or maybe get some advice/guidance/tips. Track days are better with more people. DATE(S) - ORGANIZER/CLUB - TRACK My tentative as of 2/18/22: 3/19/22 - NASA NE - NJMP Lightning 4/22/22 - NASA NE - Watkins Glen International 4/23/22 - NASA NE - Watkins Glen International 4/24/22 - NASA NE - Watkins Glen International 5/9/22 - MoE - NJMP Lightning 5/21/22 - NASA NE - NJMP Lightning 5/22/22 - NASA NE - NJMP Lightning 7/8/22 - NASA NE - Lime Rock Park 7/9/22 - NASA NE - Lime Rock Park 10/7/22 - NASA NE - Watkins Glen International 10/8/22 - NASA NE - Watkins Glen International 10/9/22 - NASA NE - Watkins Glen International For new guys here's a quick legend for track names/locations (will update as more people add their dates - looking at you antisocial West Coast/Mid-West/South crowd): NJMP - New Jersey Motorsports Park (Millville, New Jersey) - (2) Tracks; Lightning & Thunderbolt (Great beginner tracks [Lightning being best if you're new to the track] because there is plenty of room to make mistakes on both so you can push yourself here; Don't assume they are easy because they are good for beginners! Lightning is average difficulty but Thunderbolt is decently technical) LRP - Lime Rock Park (Lakeville, Connecticut) - Technical/Short/Fast/Elevations (Half of the circuit is forgiving/half of the circuit is extremely unforgiving especially the famous Uphill; only one left turn; you'll use a lot of energy on this track) WGI - Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, New York) - Former Grand Prix Circuit/Very Fast/Long/Elevations/Unforgiving (Warning: Take it easy here, there is no room for screw ups. It's not a difficult track to learn or drive but give yourself time before you start pushing hard here. Considered by many to be the best track on the East coast) VIR - Virginia International Raceway (Alton, Virginia) - Very Fast/Long/Elevations/Technical (Although this is a difficult track which will take a while to learn it is also very forgiving thanks to LOTS of run off but certain areas like the famous esses should still be taken with caution. Along with Watkins Glen International it is also considered to be the best track on the East coast by many) SIR - Sebring International Raceway (Sebring, Florida) - Very Fast/Long/Flat/Rough Surface (Another top track on the East; barely any elevation changes here but one of the toughest surfaces of any pro circuit on the planet; VERY BUMPY; more forgiving than WGI but less forgiving than VIR) Last edited by NYG; 02-18-2022 at 01:28 PM.. |

Great thread idea! D -- I'm jealous.
Here's what I'm looking at so far: 4/9/22 - NASA NE - LRP ***CONFIRMED 4/25/22 - MoE* - NJMP Thunderbolt 5/9/22 - MoE - NJMP Lightning 5/14/22 - PCA Schattenbaum - NJMP Thunderbolt ***CONFIRMED 7/11-12/22 - SCDA - WGI ***CONFIRMED *Again, I've plugged this club before, but good value for track time at NJMP. www.moehpde.com (If you happen to sign up, would appreciate a PM letting me know, I'll get a referral credit.). Overall good group of guys For future changes, suggest everyone just edit their original post instead of creating a new one to make it easy to follow/track Last edited by jfritz27; 02-02-2022 at 07:10 PM.. |

Instead of prepping the GTSs for 2022 I'm taking the F80CS back to stock, then the E90 back to stock. And then I need to do some basics to the GTSs. And find some time to ski... I'll do the WGI Poto event even if I have to take my Mini Cooper S. I also want to the VIR Poto event but mid March is SO early

Added my tentative schedule and a legend for new drivers to get an idea of where they should consider (feel free to correct descriptions or add input to any; I'll update the list as more drivers add their track days here)

Aye I plan to do as many days as I can this year (missus permitting obvs 😁. Might try for the season opener in March. NASA WGI definitely, maybe the HoD one as well. I'd like to get another Jeffapalooza in as well, totally open track no point bys etc. so it's tons of track time. Would be open to trying MoE as well, whatever is good. No LRP tho 💀 I'll wear the Max T-shirt when I collect hpde trophies |

The last time I was on the track was March 2020, just a week before the CA COVID shutdown. Several track weekends that were scheduled that year were canceled. Same for 2021.
So I'm looking forward to the weekend of April 1-3 with the SD BMW CCA at Buttonwillow Raceway, near Bakersfield, CA. It will be a 3-day event, with Friday as a Solo/Advanced day. Also scheduled for that weekend is ITS, or Instructor Training School, and my wife has been nominated. She was supposed to do this in June 2020, but this was one of the events that got canceled and this is the first time since then that it's been scheduled. Three weeks after that on April 22-24, the Audi Club of SoCal is having a 3-day HPDE at Spring Mountain Motor Ranch & Country Club in Pahrump, NV. This is an excellent private-membership facility. Friday will be an all-day open track day for Advanced Drivers. The only drawback is that it's ~5:20 drive which makes it a 5-day event, with a day to get there and a day to get back. The Audi club always puts on great events. BMW CCA is having its annual Oktoberfest Forever celebration on September 27-October 10 in Palm Springs and will include events at the BMW Performance Center West in Thermal, and it's rumored there will be 1-2 track days on the Thermal track in your own car. Oktoberfest is always fun, even more so when there are track days!

I'd like to do the Nordschleife this year. It's a bit of a trek to get there, but doable. Feel like I'm sorta ready for it, at least with an instructor for the first couple laps.
