usb, maps and ed

so doing ed. do the navi maps get loaded in or do they give a usb stick?

if stick, hoe many usb ports are in the 2016 m3? i plan on bringing my music in a usb stick, so want to use the slit for that

I had the person delivering the car load my music before she loaded the maps. Just don't forget to ask. I had a list of questions and things I wanted done with me. Don't underestimate your level of excitement and the ability to forget details like this. I'm also had her set the digital speedo to kph which was handy as well. Good luck and enjoy.

I did it last year and had the SAME question/issue. My understanding is that there is still only 1 port. This port was used for the EU Maps and I was instructed NOT to remove it once they put it in and ensured it was working. I am sure you COULD remove it and play music when you want, but I wasn't taking a chance since I was travelling a lot and didn't want it to somehow get corrupted (blah blah blah).

One thing I did do luckily was make Mp3 DVD's. I was able to pop those in and load them into the internal Hard Drive.

Question, why not stream it from your phone or other MP3 devices ?

I brought my snap-in adapter and my iPhone 4s I use as an iPod. For some reason though, that didn't work right. I ended up just streaming music from my phone via Bluetooth.

The snap-in worked fine once I got back to the states so I expect it was user error.

thats my last option. i prefer direct connection so the info is in the menu. i also dont want to drain my phone (it will be used to run Torque)

You haven't used the bluetooth connection in newer BMW's, have you? You get full album information along with art and full control. There is a slight reduction in audio quality but you have to sacrifice a little. You can get a 12V to USB adapter to plug your phone in.

I'm so confused.. just take a usb cable for your phone, plug it into the armrest USB, play music.

Fairly sure there's another USB in the glovebox (at least there was on my F30).

There's only 1 USB port in the F8x, and it will be used by the Euro maps on a USB stick. He already has the answers/options he needs in the above posts.

I'd Bluetooth it and get a USB adapter for the lighter socket.

bluetooth phone will be busy with torque and bluetooth odbc adapter. if a 2nd usb is available i will use that. if not, i will use aux cable. it will be good enough ? thanks all

If you take the USB stick out you will loose your EU maps, to re-install you'll need a FSC code, they'll tell you not to remove it when taking delivery.
