Trade M3cs for X3M?

Hey guys,

So I love my M3cs to death, best car I've ever driven and that's not hyperbole. The said, with it being my 3rd F8x along with the fact that I'm starting to get tired of garaging my cars for the NE winters, I've begun to consider some alternatives.

In comes the X3M comp... does anyone think it would be a decent replacement? I drive a CR-V in the winters while the M3cs is garaged, so the X3M would pull double duty in that regard. I'm just somewhat worried about making the jump from super sedan to super SUV

In regards to my M3cs, I was lucky enough to jump in when the deals were crazy, so I'm sure that I could lease swap it very easily if I go that route.

You still need winter tires for the X3M, so keep that in mind.

The X3M will never be a direct replacement for your M3 CS. But it will allow you to use it all year. Depends what's important to you.

I odnt know that's pretty tough one. I drive a x3MC for a few last month and man that is a fun and FAST vehicle!! tech is better as well. however it doesn't stand out as much as a M3CS does but its a hell of a lot of fun to drive, I could see it.

I think it's an awesome option, but as others have mentioned, it's still an M car so it has its drawbacks and compromises being a daily driver. Namely, fuel economy, wear and tear, and tires, both replacement and having to run winters. It can be tempting to move to an all around car, but I'm still in favor of having a weekend car and daily, especially when it's a CS in the garage.

I haven't driven the X3M yet but have sat in one and it looked and felt like a nice place to be. That being said I wouldn't trade an M3 CS for one if my only concern was winter driving. Many of us drive our Ms year round with good winter tires. I will consider the X3M when I need to sell my M3 but more so because I put on a lot of miles and sooner or later I'll need to part with it (and the current leaks of the G80 leaving a lot to be desired). So I figured why not take advantage of getting some extra room while staying in the M family. Not sure what I'll end up doing but as I mentioned, winter driving wouldn't be the reason to swap.

You have an M3CS and you want to replace with an X3M? Nahhh….

The M3CS is a pretty special vehicle...

If you never had an M vehicle and was considering the X3M; then cool...

If you're gonna make a jump I'd be looking at and X5M

Have you driven the X3MC? B/c the lag is ridiculous!

I love owning two cars. It does get tiring sometimes and its more expensive than just having one car. However, I love keeping my M3 in perfect condition and having the flexibility of having a second car. I recently upgraded my DD to a 2018 Golf R and it's awesome.

Your profile says "Newark" - so your M3 with snows should do just fine there. As noted, you will need snows on the X3 and I hear the ride on the comp kind of sucks.

And on the plus side, your M3 hood won't rust....

Garaging leased cars for winter? Why?

Drive it like it’s a rental, because it is

All you are doing is eating depreciation and keeping the car mint for the next owner.

Just enjoy it

I hear you. I first had a mod budget for the F80. Now I think my budget and to do list for the Mini S is a lot larger.

Yuppers, $6750 (incentives/CCA) before typical BMW discount 12% easily is nothing to dismiss!! Maybe I should snag one for cheap and get over the lag issue

So, does it make it a $1k/mo lease, like the other member who was trying to get out of his lease?

Kief, I guarantee the lag is what makes you sell it in 4 months. (Then again, even with a perfect car boredom sets in around 9-12mo, right )0

Not sure how much of an upgrade is the X3M versus the M40i that my wife has. But unless it's a whole new car, it's a no brainer. Keep that CS.

Who was that? Not doberzus Hope he, and anyone with a frontal lobe, isn't paying $1k/month for a X3MC!

I'm not interested...just picked up an X5 M50i in Dec for the Mrs. I think she is happier with it than her X5M, but she couldn't careless about cars so who really knows.
