Based on what we know who on here thinks we will get the ZCP in July?

Dumb question but what "suspension tweaks" are you thinking about? Can they be implemented in the aftermarket?

I was planning to go with R888 type tires and coding euro MDM and calling it done.

Any thoughts on that approach?

It seemed highly likely before this thread. Scott26 added some massive confusion here so now I'm 50/50.

Here's the suspension tweaks that came with the M5 ZCP. I would expect similar for the M3.

-Stiffer stabilizer (anti-roll) bars
-Stiffer and lower suspension (shocks and springs) (10mm lower then standard M5/M6).
-Stiffer front axle bushings

Yeah I really wish he would have clarified. I'm at 25% after his comments

You are correct. I've been reflecting on it and I guess the "so what" consideration is pretty big. If someone is going to make consistent trips to a track, it is highly likely they are investing in track wheels regardless as to what comes on the car. Casual track goers probably don't care much and those who never track really don't care. I suppose 20's don't matter. It's not like I wouldn't buy a track set of wheels even if it came with 19's

So, as much as I hate to admit it, I think you are right and I am over emphasizing the issue

GT3 has 20's because they lay more rubber down. Larger tire even in height will put down more rubber from what I am told. Maybe Im wrong though.

I don't think this matters... i.e. the wheel diameter. If anything, less sidewall (ie. larger wheel) results in less contact patch for straight line acceleration. Hence why dragsters have large sidewalls and small wheels and not big wheels with skinny sidewalls. This has been discussed here before.

For lateral traction, wheel and tire width is important.

A 20" wheel is, IMO, for aesthetics, to clear brakes and possibly for responsiveness given the thin sidewall (and therefore less rollover). However, there is not real advantage in forward traction or lateral traction just by virtue of the wheel diameter.

I hope the ZCP package does not lower the car. The e9x ZCP dropped the car 10mm, but the car needed to be dropped 10mm. The F8x 10mm lower brings it that much closer to road debris (if you get my drift).

Time will tell. I'm glad I will have choices when I order a '16.

What I said was that 20's are not practical wheels for track duty assuming smaller wheels clear brakes. That does not mean a 20" track tire isn't as fast as its 18" brother. If you can find a 20" suitable track tire and don't mind paying 50%+ more than its 18" sibling, then fill your boots. When you are replacing track tires 1, 2 or more times a season, that gets hard to swallow.

The point, IMO, is that larger wheels are used because they look nice primarily and NOT because they are better for performance driving.

You like 20's I take it

I like the way 19s look better.

No... it's better than a Civic M4... more like an Accord M4. But, hey, it's still likely better than and RC-F

I love my civic e92 m3 manual seats, manual trans, fixed dampers.. I live RAW!! lol but at this point, I'm set on a '16, regardless of ZCP; the timing works out for my personal life, not just because LED tails.

Well I'm picking my car up on the 21st of June so I'll be one month (or days I guess) away from '16 production. Back in 2010 I did a euro delivery on my Individual M3 that was in the design process for about 9 months. In lthe fall of 2009 I was given a head's up by BMW M Div that if I waited for a May delivery, the car would be a 2011 production car and that it would get the newly available ZCP package. Didn't have to think twice about it but it was damned tough to keep quiet about the info (which I promised I'd do) until BMW released the info months later.

Anyways I don't have the luxury of being able to change the incoming car, it's another ED and everything's booked. Truthfully I don't want to change it 'cause it's going to be my dream build combined with our dream trip to pick it up. If a new ZCP pkg is released this summer with 20" rims and a 10mm drop with a few more suspension and MDM tweaks it won't ruffle any feathers for me, none at all. But then there's the ZCP-specific tune. Now that's another story. I'll be honest...I'll be pissy lol.

Long story short...I hope, no I pray, that M Div will accommodate current owners with an M Performance, M3/4 specific tune to match the ZCP option. Not right away maybe (and at a cost obviously) but I think this kind of offering would satisfy most of the concerns voiced in this thread, particularly if ZCP does go RPO for the 2016 builds and particularly if the power bump is significant. It'd be a win/win for everyone (tuners excepted unfortunately) so here's to hoping!!!
