A good friend of mine confirmed with BMWNA that they will be crushing all pre-production, press, and track demos. They have no plans to add a decimal point to the edition count on their plaque. 299.1........299.91.......etc.

However, they do now know if there will be other special editions based on the GTS like the DTM. He's been told that BMW had every intention to stick to the mold of the prior gen GTS.

Highly unlikely. Ask your friend these questions. Does BMW crush all pre-production cars? What about press cars? If he says no, ask him, what happens to those cars.

Actually they do crush most of them, especially pre-production cars.
They have a number of recycling centers for this

I'm well aware of that. What I'm saying is that not all pre-production, press, prototype cars get crushed.

BTW, more VINs were assigned to the ECE and RHD models

Every car that is designated to be eventually crushed, is. There are many other factors that drive them to adhere to this, but probably round off errors that a VW executive would casually give the middle finger to. For example, fleet economy and emissions.

I think the West coast cars take an extra 2 weeks to land.
I'm 8885. Landed 11/3 in transit to dealer arriving tomorrow 11/11. (And I'm overseas u til 11/14)
