Has anyone tracked on the Continental 5P?

My 2018 came with the Conti 5P rather than the Michelins. How do they hold up to track duty? Thinking of entering the local BMWCCA event with my F80 because I don't think I'll have my E30 ready in time.

Yes I tracked those on my wife's old f30 335. They sucked (along with that car's cooling system and steering feel). Got greasy very fast.

I felt the DE early. First and only time I've ever done that.

Don't waste your time using those at a DE, in my opinion. Or at least get ready to be really held back with your focus being on managing the tire.

I ran SportContacts 3 on my M2 and they did the job. I ran them at Summit Main last October in 60 degree weather at 35 PSI hot without issues. I plan to run them again this spring and then go to re71r or rs4 when the Contis are dead. Manage your corner speed entry and don't overdrive your tires and you should only be a few seconds slower than withal
r compound tire.

They were great in the wet, never tried them on a dry track

The 5Ps will do ok, they will really show some wear depending on the track time you get.
The picture is a new front tire after 3 days at COTA June of last year. The fronts were down to the wear bars on the outside of each tread rings.

Damn, OK. Well I'm doing a Sunday only at Road Atlanta this coming weekend. Will probably just have to be gentle and take my time through 1 and 12.

I did Euro Delivery on my 2016 M4 and it came with Continental tires. During the Euro Delivery I had track days at Nurburgring Nordschleife (8 laps), Circuit Park Zandvoort (full day HPDE), and Spa Francorchamps (four 20-30 minute lapping sessions). At the end of the trip the front tires were toast. "Street" tires just don't hold up for extended track use.

After redelivery I had all four tires replaced with Michelin PSS. I also got a set of dedicated track wheels/tires, Nitto NT01 tires on Apex EC-7 wheels.

So, like i said “get ready to be really held back with your focus being on managing the tire”

By the way, I did that approach with PSS and took em to the cords in 4 DEs. These commuter tires are fine in a pinch but it’s a waste of time and money for a frequent track user to take them, IMHO
