Smart to pull the trigger on a CS at this point in lifecycle?
Hey guys,
So the lease on my current F80 is up in a matter of weeks and I have a lease offer in front of me right now for a CS that would essentially let me swap cars for less than $100 extra a month with nothing out of pocket. All of that said, as I contemplate the offer, I'm left wondering whether it's smart to pull the trigger on a CS at this point in the F80 lifecycle? For instance, with the G80 set to come out in a year or two, will that render the CS less special if you will? Just for some additional context I'm still planning on pulling the trigger but would love some feedback from you guys, especially those that own a CS. Thanks very much! |

If you like the car, you should get it which it sounds like you will. It's interesting that so many are allowing the pending arrival of the G80 to weigh heavily on decisions they're making today. Live for today. There's a possibility you won't like the G80 for a number of reasons (e.g. performance, aesthetics, poor residuals, etc.). Worst case scenario you should be able to get out of the CS relatively easily provided your lease payment isn't outrageous.
My answer is: yes, get the CS if you can. I came from a ZCP which was more than capable; however, the CS is simply a better car. |

So this is the position I was in and I leased a CS.
My take on it is if you like the car then who cares if it is less desirable or doesn't hold its value or whatever . . It's a lease, use it for 3 years then give it back. If you think 3 years is long then you can always do two but the monthly will be higher.

I don't own a CS, however it stands to reason you get all the benefit of refinements throughout the product life cycle. As well as cool colors, a unique interior and great performance.
If I had a choice it'd be a manual 18 ZCP in some individual grey color or an LRG or SMB M3 CS. |

I would do it without hesitation. Besides just being an awesome vehicle, there is almost zero risk in assuming the CS at the current price / deals.
WORST case, you throw it on lease trader and someone will probably snatch it up the same day. Otherwise you can just turn it in after three years or buy it out at what will almost certainly be a below market residual.

If you were thinking about a regular M3 I'd still tell you to do it, but would understand your hesitation to a degree. For the CS though and the deals that can be had on it, there is really nothing to think about if you have the means.
This is the a limited edition, best of breed model and the first CS in sedan form. People will be chomping at the bit to take it off your hands should it not work out for you. |

Thanks for the responses guys, great stuff. I was hoping the dealer would call back by now with an improved offer, but I guess they can only discount the car so far, haha.

i recently got my M3 CS. May previous car was a 2011 M3 Coupe Comp Pack and 2015 M4. the CS is so different in many ways, from the noise, to the shifting to the traction control which actually doesn't kick in all the time. it's absolutely worth it so if you can get one do it!
