Yeah GG got banned from the G8x area for memeing. Yoda got straight banned from BP entirely.

That thread started off with BMW owners airing their grievances with the G8x then into other brands and how the car industry is at the moment before slowly by page 300, morphed into a light Porsche ordering thread. I know I was talking about it but some where along the way, we converted someone into ordering a 992 911 over a G80. Then that snowballed into other owners admitting either they already have a Porsche ordered or is in the process of doing so (me included).

And thanks I know CanAut has a RS6 already. I saw one in person but I'm not too sure if I need a car of that size. If it was the RS4 maybe.

Thanks, great to hear from you and especially that things are going well! We are doing well also and are feeling very lucky/fortunate as ever.

The Cayman (4.0 any way) is about perfect as far as a pure sports car goes. Not much not to like, 6 MT, light and big NA flat six behind you.

It is a bummer about the G8X and the direction BMW has gone, although I wasn't ever fully on the F8X band wagon and never really fell in love with any of my F8Xs. They were at least gorgeous, that was definitely never a question.

Last and most importantly, of course neither of our hockey teams are still playing this time of year.

ANYway, yeah, things are good! Work is good in that I decided to stop doing it 18ish months ago and I'm not driving anything* now! Got rid of the '18 'vert in Nov, though on 2nd thought I should've bought it out ...

The plan was to get an SUV as we were kinda planning on some longer road trips - still are kinda - but that's kinda consistently not worked out. I ordered a 45e, but decided to back out due to explody reasons, then was gonna order a Macan turbo, but could never find the right discount, then supply chain problems, now I'm waiting to see what the 2022s hold and thinking maybe X5M depending on discounts and availability

* I rent cars and then return them when the tank gets to 1/3 - not really driving much so it works out!

Ideally I'm kinda up for moving to Thailand or Portugal, but my wife isn't ready so I"ll have to keep working on that ...

I've had my eye on the vehicles from a Canadian company in sorta your neck of the woods ... Pleasure Way! I don't think we'll do that, but a year long road trip across Canada is sounding pretty good....

Yeah, fair enough on the size thing. We're 2 teens + dog + 4 sets of clubs (summer) and up to 6 pairs of skis (winter) so...space is an issue for us.

When it comes, our 63 will look something like the one at the bottom of this post (as i've forgotten how to inline attachments.....sigh)

and it will go like hell.

I should ask CanAut what he thinks of the RS6....

Yeah, I watched like 5 minutes of hockey all year. Just could not get into a team that seemed to have no desire to do anything resembling playing hockey on the ice. They were brutal.

sadly, I've regressed further into my father and probably watch more golf than anything on TV these days. If you want me to talk about Phil or the Brooks-Bryson feud, I could probably offer much more commentary!

I've generally decided that Canada produces the worst hockey teams imaginable (best players, worst teams) because EVERY FUCKING CANADIAN views themselves an expert on hockey and can diagnose why our team is bad, and the 3 things they need to do to fix it, etc, etc etc. It is pretty much impossible to GM a team here. In a place like Vegas or Tampa, they 10 fans that care just trust the GM (or are too quiet/ineffectual for the GM to care) so the brass can actually create and execute a plan without having to answer to 1 MM plus bosses who all know better....

If I'm honest, I've never *loved* p-cars...except the Cayman. I've built one out on the porsche website more than once.

Random aside: is the BMW USA site as shit as the Canadian one now for having a car builder that borrows off Porsche's horrendous one? Always hated the way Porsche does options, BMW seems to have borrowed that - and I have no idea why.

yes. yes, those are exactly what i had in mind when i first saw the G8X.

.....Maybe it looks a little better on a darker car (only because the car hides the grille better) but on anything light coloured....it is awful.

Macan vs X5M is a big swing.

And a Saskatoon based RV, huh? (that is where i grew up). I've never had the RV 'itch', but i do like the converted sprinter vans. Almost rented one myself this summer for a trip in saskatchewan (family cabin becoming too crowded....)

What's actually remarkable (as i browse their website and look at prices) is how for the first time in a LOONG while canadian prices are actually a deal compared to US prices. That 4x4 Benz van they have is $171k USD, but only 184K CAD. so if you could pay in CAD, it would only be equivalent to 152 USD now. free money!*

(the MB USA site has a better visualizer than the canadian site, so i noted that when building out our wagon - you'd be paying the equivalent of an extra almost $20k CAD for the wagon we bought....)

One of the "benefits" (? I think that is the right word) of the last 5 or 6 years is how I've generally just learned to ignore what many people think because I read things like this and the baby jesus just weeps. and weeps. and weeps. so my ability to care about the opinions of the many has basically been beaten out of me by circumstance and bitterness. I assume the worst of most people most of the time. its just easier for my soul that way.
