Thanks for confirming. I was going to just keep the center trim if i lost another feature but now that I know it works ill keep the whole wheel to finish off the m performance stuff up. My friend got one already and i like it a lot. He doesn't have the driver assist though to confirm. I already bought the rear shade to avoid tint but ended up tinting the windows because of the full leather. LOL

Can you post pics of steering wheel options?
Here you go. Along with the MPE exhaust this is the best mod I've made to my F80. There are so many data points the wheel covers. About 30 separate data feeds. And feels and looks great.

I'm a germ freak, I like the OEM steering wheels that I can wipe it down with BMW Leather Cleaner/Conditioner once a month. Race gloves are cheaper upgrades for the track. Just use bright colored vinyl to indicate the steering wheel's top position on track days.

I heard the LED wheel doesn't handle heat well. I went with the non-disco wheel and do enjoy it. All leather wears over time just like the car, just like the driver.

You guys are all referencing a circular or flat bottomed full alcantera wheel - personally liks this better:

https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462

Can choose to add CF matt or glossy interior or just use your OEM non-CF inserts. Haven't plunged yet though!

How does the alcantara hold up on these? That's the only thing keeping me from getting one right now...

I like the third option, the one without lights and the blue stripe. Is it thicker and felt like? Will it retain the ability to heat up? If so how much and where can I order it from?

M-Performance steering wheel V2

- Yes, it is thicker. The shape is also different.
- No, it doesn't retain the heating function.
- Auto Talent has them on sale right now in the classifieds.

How's the alcantara holding up. I hesitate to get the V1 wheel as alcantara gets matter and shiny after a while.

I cleaned mine with warm water and a bit of soap onto a microfiber towel and it held up just fine.

Very much this, I did 40k in my e92 silver edition M3 with the GTS steering wheel and it was perfect, like you I just used warm water and a bit of soap.

Although lots of people are really hard on steering wheels for some reason, I have a car dealer friend and the state some of the steering wheels are in beggars belief even on low mileage cars.

Question - is that leather and alcantara on the wheel? Just got mine put on today, but the "leather" feels plasticy not soft leather like the stock M wheel.

Fingers crossed the V2 leather will eventually soften up? Not diggin the plastic look and feel to it. Maybe I'll bomb it with some leatherique to soften it up

Old thread but I just ordered one, Coby Wheel offers an alcantara-wrapped steering wheel which retains heating.
